From what I read on your replies, basically the 285/40 will be for good looks and the 285/35 for better handling.

That is a good point about classing. If you are just having the tires for HPDE days, then you don't need to pay attention to it, but if you want to race in some kind of class, you need to pay attention to the tire allowances.

Hey, all it boils down to is a matter of preference. Both would fit on your rim just fine, the 35 profile would give you a slightly harsher ride but your car would be slightly more responsive and lower to the ground. As for the 40 profiles your ride would be slightly more padded and comfortable as opposed to the 35's.

Thanks for your comments. Since I will keep my 275/40R19 for daily driving, I think based on your comments the 285/35R18 with 18X10 wheels, will be a great option for the track.
