Default gt500 brake upgrade

Looking for info on installing gt500 brakes on a mustang GT. As far as what parts are needed to complete the install and maybe even a guide. Tried searching but I didn't see anything. Anyone got any info or done this already?

I have. Kind of depends where u get the kit from as to how complete it is. American muscle has a nice PDF write up with pics that walks u through it. I'm assuming u r referring to the 14 inch upgrade and not the 15. U will need 18 rims and only certain designs will clear the calipers. I think the steedas u have should clear the 14 inch version.

I've done it. It's a straightforward brake swap. Remove the calipers, remove the rotors, replace with the Brembos. Bleed them. Any old brake replacement guide should get the job done.

Totally worth it. I bought mine from American Muscle though I know it's possible to put together a cheaper package if you shop around.

Like UrS4 stated, just make sure your wheels can clear the brakes, they are pretty massive. Don't think it'll be a problem with your Steedas, but call them just to make sure.

IIRC my Steedas can clear it, which is why I bought them in the first place as a brake upgrade was always in the plan. I was hoping to find someone with a GT500 that upgraded their brakes so I could get the old brakes for much cheaper than a new kit.

I got my whole new kit off ebay with calipers, rotors front and rear, pads front and rear for $635. Only thing it didn't come with was SS line which I already had and the brake pad installation pins and retaining clip.

Hmm I wonder how these compare to the Brembo package upgrade on the 11+ GT's.

Do the rears need to be upgraded as well with the gt500 brakes or are they the same?

The track pack brembo brakes on 11+ GTs are the same calipers exactly, just painted grey with red letters. The rears do not need to be upgraded. The only difference in the GT500 rears is that the bracket pushes the caliper out farther and the rotor is bigger but the. Pad is the same so its a combo of cosmetic and some function in having a bigger rotor dissipate heat faster.
