Which size tire? New wheels?

I have a 2013 GT - 6 sp man with a some mods. LT Headers, one piece driveshaft, JLT CAI and a good tune. Stock rims 18 X 8. Stock tire is a 235/50. I am trying to avoid getting new rims and tires if possible.

If I went with Nitto 555 or Nitto 555r tires size 255 (the largest recommended) in rear would this improve the straight ahead grip significantly or do I need to get new wheels and wider tires?

Need your thoughts.

555Rs would increase straight line grip. But I've used both Nittos and Mickey Thompson and I'd look into the M/Ts if I was you.
