285/40/18 tires fit the front ? Help
 

Ok looking for help I found a to good to pass up deal on some and I need front tire I am running 275 right now in the front .

I was wondering if they would fit with the offset of the wheel being +24 I saw somewhere saying as long as it stays below +40 you were good . And if anyone has any pics please post them

I found a lot of people saying yes just want to confirm and see some pics if anyone has them

First things first. What is the full size of those wheels? Diameter x width.

Offset requirements are set on the maximum positive side by things like strut and LCA clearances, which is why you see +42 offset 18 x 10 wheels used up front. But too small of a positive offset will put you in tire to sheetmetal trouble. The wider the wheels and tires, the smaller the range between min+ and max+. Tire diameter makes it even more critical.



I have 285/35-18's on 18 x 11's up front, 10.2" wide at the tread, and it doesn't rub. For street driving I might even be able to get away running 285/40's (40's would have about 9/16" less tire to fender clearance, vertically) unless I was to lower the car (it's basically stock height). On the track likely not because of the more severe suspension travel associated with that activity. Offset data not available but different from the typical 18x10's (+42-ish?) or the 2008-ish GT500 18x9.5 (+45) wheels. I do know that people have run 285/40's on the GT500 wheels up front, some getting a little light rub under full lock or other conditions, others not.
