Issue with D-Specs and Steeda Sport springs
Hey folks,
I have an old set of D-Specs I ordered years ago that I never got around to installing due to lots of personal reasons (read: kids). My stock suspension is feeling a little soft now, so I planned to install those with a set of Steeda Sports. I also ordered a set of the GT500 top mounts and the dust cover/bump stops so I could pre-assemble the strut inside where it's still somewhat warm
Anyway, last night I decided to get the struts built and I ran into a problem seating the Steedas into the lower perch of the Tokicos. The bottom pigtail doesn't seem to slot into the perch. The top mount fits fine and the pigtail engages with the mount without issue. I double and triple checked the part numbers for the struts (They were from the DSP-12 kit, the front struts are marked TODB5013, which seems to be correct). I'm hoping I'm just doing something stupid here. This isn't my first spring install, but it is on the Mustang. I'm used to the springs falling right into the perches.
Has anyone run into this? Any ideas? I called AM to ask them since I bought the Steedas from them, but they couldn't think of anything that could be wrong. The only thing I'm left with is a manufacturing defect with either the struts or springs, but that seems unlikely. These D-Specs were new in the box when I opened them last night.
Here's some pictures for reference:
