Why do the GT500's not come with at least 3.55 gears like the GT'S?
I forgot to add that to my list of surprises....I too am surprised....maybe it was to save on tire wear.......you would really tear them up with 3.55, 3.73 or 4.10....can you imagine.....1st and 2nd would be non existent...LOL...anyway< I do agree with your concern and quandry as well
I want to resurrect this thread, Who has done the 3.31 to 3.73 swap and is it a good idea for the wheel hop and did it make a huge difference in acceleration?
Thanks
This is certainly the case for the 2013 GT500, but not sure it's true for the 2007 - 2009 model years, which were speed limited to less than 160 mph. 3.31s might help the 2013 with the improved gas mileage needed to eliminate the gas guzzler tax as well.
Yes, you are right about the 07-09 top speed and still they came with only 3.31 unless you got the KR package then only then you got the 3.73 but I think 3.31 is not enough??
3.73's are better for acceleration, but you are going to lose a little on the top end if you're in mexico and do high-speed runs. I made the switch to 3.73's and I love it, but I'm also running 305 drag radials, not your everyday tread. Everything has a tradeoff, but I think the 3.73's are the best for a mix of street/strip.
