Default Why an 85mm in 08 Shelby GT ?

In doing some further research, I have learned that Ford went from a 90mm to an 85mm on the CAI for the Shelby GT.......why ?

Does it really hurt performance that much ? ........I would assume that it doesn't

I think your research is incorrect. The 85mm intake is on the Bullitt. There was no change on the SGT. Here's a 2008:

Thank you for the response, but......

If the above stated is correct (both use 90mm) then why is the oneoffered by Ford (in the performance pac) 90mm for 05-07 only and the one available for the 08 is an 85mm ?

I think it is the new Bullitt intake, that one is not produced anymore.

It's definitely correct. There are several 2008 SGTs on ebay with pictures of the engine compartment if you want to check.

I don't know why. Either of them will physically fit any 2005-2008. FRPP apparently isn't selling a tune for the Steeda/Shelby style intake on 2008s. Maybe it's a CARB or EPA thing, since the new Bullitt style intake says it's 50 state street legal.
