Shelby GT, doing what they are meant to
Remembering how Shelby's started out, as competition cars there is a group of us using them for that purpose.
The Shelby GT has become the car to have for SCCA Solo competition in F-stock. I've won back to back National Championships, and was on the cover of SCCA's magazine "SportsCar" in Mike Snyder's Shelby GT #450 two months ago. And we're not the only ones running one. In fact we got a pretty cool picture @ Solo Nationals of all the Shelby GT's there, plus an original GT350-H that also ran, and ran @ Nationals back in 1973 with the same owner....
Shelby's were intended to go around corners and win. That's what we're doing with ours. Just thought you all should know the spirit is alive and well.

Thanks to teamwtf.org (yes, it stands for what you think it does) I have a lot of pics I can point you to. Plus I can't seem to find how to post an actual pic in the thread... oh well.
Here's a series that's pretty cool: http://photos.teamwtf.org/gallery/3054998_mgNfP#P-1-15
On SCCA's website: http://scca.com/contentpage.aspx?content=56
I have a scan of the Shelby with me driving from the cover of SportsCar magazine (but again, can't figure how to post it). I was pictured in a Hoosier Adverstisement inside the cover of Grassroots Motorsports Magazine in the car too.
Here's one you guys might like. All the Shelby's @ Nationals, including a 1966 GT350H... The car I drive is the 3rd from the left. But that's not important, what's neat is Don Knop has owned that car since 1973 (I think) and brought it out to play with the new generation cars. http://home.earthlink.net/~doctor_fun_/shelbys11.jpg

I posted this over in the handling section too--but being it is an SGT, thougt you guys might be interested:
Some in-car video's of me winning my 5th National Championship in Mike Snyder's Shelby GT in F-stock. The video is taken by a Chase cam and has an g-data embedded on it.
-------------------------------------------
Fastest run (run 3) East course--Day 1.
Ended up in 3rd about .136 out of the lead (and if you watch closely you'll see the "moment" I had. Looking at my data logs, I was about .5 up on my second run into they corner I messed up the exit of, and about .7 down on the way out. Not my finest moment and you'll see the reaction to that at the end of the run. I ended up making some time back up, ultimately .1 faster than my 2nd run. I stayed close on a cone-intensive course, which was my goal (nothing worse that coning out and tossing you Nationals away on day 1).

---------------------------------------------------------
Fastest run clean run (run 1), West couse--Day 2.
This is my first run on the West course. Time is 42.8, run 2 was a 42.7 +1, run 3 was a slower 42.9. I was the only FS car in the 42's, next fastest car was Lee Piccione in Jason Burns' car @ 43.1 +1. FWIW, Jason was the Day 1 leader, finished 2nd and is the 2006 FS National Champion, and his car is setup by Strano Performance as well.
Excuse the excitement at the end of the run. I was just pumped because I knew the time was good of those that had run to that point. Jason had run right two cars in front of me, so I didn't know his time, but I know I nailed that run pretty well. You can also see me looking around to see if I could find some info on how Jason ran. Sort of embarassing, but I'll share anyway.
