MOBIL 1 5W30
I went to the Ford dealer today to get some oil for my first oil change 2500km, and they only sell Mobil 1 not the Ford stuff {Motorcraft} ?? I would assume that means it is better than Fords?? Any thoughts?

5W50 -B spec oil is the oil you need for your GT500. You can use whatever you want but anything other than the recommended/required oil may void your warrantee. Make the stealership order the right oil for your car! Right now there are only 2 sources for –B spec oil, Ford and Roush. I personally don’t have $17K for a new engine so I choose to run the recommended oil. In the end it’s your car though.

This has been discussed many times on other forums. Mobile1 and Castrol aren't -B spec, Valvoline might make oil for Roush but they don't sell -B spec 5w50 under their own name. http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/ind...=29076&hl=5w50

According to Mobil their 5w50 oil meets higher than B it meets A3, B3,B4 and thats exactly what it says on my case of Mobil 1 fully synthetic I bought right from the Ford dealer so it must be right? I HOPE!

Listen to this, I purchased a 2008 Shelby from a GMC dealer, and asked them to contract Ford to get the correct oil and filter, they put it in, as I'm leaving the guy gives me the paperwork and is telling me quite proudly that they have installed 5-30 blend have a nice day! I almost passed out, I said what, thats the wrong oil, no its not he says, thats what the dealer told us to install. Then after they were getting the correct oil, he was giving me crap about replacing the oil filter. I said, dude, your gonna replace the 5 dollar filter to. Thank goodness they had only pulled it out of the bay, and not driven it very far. The point is be carefull with the Mustang versus the Shelby name, I know what happened, some knucklehead call Ford and told them they have a Mustang what oil does it take..... Keep an eye on them.
QUESTION: Should I replace the oil again to be sure I have all that 5-30, (I have driven about 75 miles with the new oil installed) out or am I OK at this point? And any chance of damage done to the engine?

mike, no need to worry about engine damage. you could have run that 5-30 for months and though it would have broken down quicker and maybe caused the engine to work a little harder (under heavy acceleration), it would not have caused any damage.
no need to change the oil again either. that would be like throwing away a whole pot of pasta sauce and starting over because you added 1.5 tsp of salt instead of 1.
