great idea!
Just don't rely on a salesman to do that!
It wouldn't surprise me if they'd run a false VIN! If they do a check online, get the printout and compare it to the VIN on the actual car. Not it's paper work, but the physical VIN on the car.

Yeah, that's what I did. I got the VIN from the window myself and called Ford Cust. Relations myself and had them print the window sticker and send it to me. And sure enough, my new baby really did start out as a GT500! (and even in the same color as it is now.)

I'm really looking into upgrading my current car to a GT500. I grew up driving muscle cars that my dad had around when I was a kid. I learned to drive in a 74 Trans Am. I test drove a new 09' about two months ago and I was more impressed than I thought I would be. I had a smile on my face for like a week. The sales chick was pissed when I told her I wouldn't buy it from her because I could find a used 07 with less than 8K on the OD for 37 thousand at Carmax. And they will give a good price on my trade. I test drove the Challenger R/T and it sounded good but felt like a 747. It cost more too. WTF?

definately some deals out there. I looked hard for a month and caught one for sale at a Hyundai dealership. They were gonna put it in an auction to pawn it off to a Ford dealership...they didn't know anything about it either. It had 4,200 miles with a VMP 2.65" sc pulley and JLT cai on it. Got it for around $33k. Getting rid of the wheel hop was a must and getting used to this clutch (the shutter) took awhile.

I replied in my other post...but anyways...get that beast to a ford dealer with the clutch drag TSB in hand....it will effect most cars built before 9/2008,,,,that will solve your shifting and clutch issues...
