Default passing factory rev-limiter

If there is a warranty issue can the dealer tell that you've gone past the limiter if they analyse the computer. The stock tune would of course be reloaded back into the car before I dropped the car off.

I don't think it keeps tracking of 'rev limiter infractions', but it does record the last few runs. If I remember correctly, Ford vehicles record the last 3 times it's driven- mph, rpm and various system checks (safety and emissions). Most of the manufacturers are doing the same type of system logging.

As far as the warranty is concerned- the dealership is only going to see the tune installed, so erasing the adaptive strategy and uploading the stock tune should remedy that. And, to my knowledge, the Ford IDS doesn't have a function for reading the 'black box'.

I had to take my 2005 Mustang GT in once because of a check engine light that came on and was shocked at the information the car's computer had to say...it was like a little "black box"....it told all.

I had just started my car and was backing up in a Walmart parking lot when my engine light came on. I called my buddy down at Ford and he told me to bring the car to him. When I got there, he plugged up his computer to mine and retreived all types of information. It told him how fast I was going, the RPM's of the car, and much, much more....my buddy just looked at me and laughed after I made a few comments about what the computer had to say and he said that it was a good thing I didn't tell him something different because my computer would told on me if I hadn't been telling the truth.
