Default Comp cams for the gt500

hi everyone,

i own a shelby gt 500 - 2008. i have put on a couple of mods and i need opinions on my next mod. The parts already on the car are:
-high flow air intake + 16psi pulley kit
-upgraded intercooler + upgraded resevior tank
-ford racing throttle body
-weapon r coils
-jba headers(long tubes) + magna flow catbacks
-ford racing 4.10 gears
-spec clutch (twin plate)
-lighter shaft and car is dyno tuned.

My next step is the cams. i have purchased a set of cams from comp, a supercharge series set as they name them with their springs. They are being shipped and iam getting them in 2 weeks time. As i assume, i will be getting an additional 40-45 hp on wheel. I did alot of thinking before taking this step as i was worried about opening the engine.

I need your valuble opinions and advices based on your experiences, especially anyone who has cams installed. Problems? drivability? the good and the bad about cams.

I am planning to keep the car for some time more then will upgrade the supercharger when iam financially ready.

Thanks guys.

I asked about this as well...specifically about the Ford GT cams. Everyone I talked to, including Jared from Lethal Performance said that this isn't worth it $ wise to do. You have to drop the engine and will run about ~$1500 just for install. As you can get a whipple for about $3500, drop another grand and get the s/c was the recommendation I received.

If you do decide to do he cams...will you please posts the costs and time it took, as well as performance gains you received and drivability changes. Thanks!

thanks for the advice man, i think i changed my mind, iam going to get the 2.9 whipple. moneywise its better as i will get more power with little more cash.

will i be facing problems with the 2.9 on high boost(16 or 17psi)?

i already have a high flow air intake, huge cooler, resevior tank, throtlle body and coils and a clutch which has done around 16000miles. can i just get the supercharge by itself?

thanks again man.

+1 on Jared
He's where I get most of my info. He said that a 2.9 coming from him (lethal) comes set up for about 17PSI and that yu can go with a supercharger only plan and everything will be fine. If you plan on going higher from there though you'll have to start adding fuel supplemental stuffs, tb's, etc
