Need some info; starting to save for GT500 downpayment in Jan!
Hi all. Ive been lurking for some time here, just getting to know the new 2011 GT500.
I came to the conclusion a few months ago that I want to get a new Mustang. I wanted to get the GT at first but i realized that the GT500 had everything I ever wanted on it ALREADY installed. lol bigger price tag but well within reason with the right down payment.
Anyway I recently found out that the 2011 GT500s were a limited production run, with only 5500 of them slated for production.
Does anyone know if the 2012 and 2013 models will have this cap as well? I doubt I'll have a good down payment ready to go until at least July 2012, (lol long time to dream right?) but I know that the GT500 is worth it for me.
ALSO, Ive heard rumors that 2014 was supposed to be the new new bodystyle. But recently heard the 2015 model year would be the new one. Anyone be able to confirm this?
Thanks!

Yes there is a 5500 cap on the 2011's with ~3300 already ordered/sold. But remember that the 2010 when it first came out had a "cap" of 2000 but ended up going well beyond that.
IMO the cap will change each year and depend upon many factors like economy, demand and new features/performance.
Anything beyond 2012 is still too far away to confirm anything but seeing how Ford usually does 5 year runs on a body style that would put the 2015 for the new style but will ford make a 2014 1/2 model to actually align up with the 64 1/2 icon
Either way, decide what model you want and try to save accordingly. The Boss 302 is scheduled for 2012 release, the King Cobra is rumored too sometime soon and then the 50th anniversary edition in 2014 -2015.
Me, Im planning on getting another and it will be the 50th anniversary edition.

Thanks for the reply Cobra! Didnt realize they were serious about bringing the Boss 302 back. i know they released the 302R.... And a King Cobra....hmmm.
Lol well Im still full speed ahead with a GT500, but if they do release a new Mustang with Supercharger potential (11.0:1 seems a bit too high for a supercharger on the new GT) Id surely consider it!
thanks again for the clarification!
