So, my peers in the regular section helped me decide to get away from my GT and buy the GT500. Now that the hard part is over I need information from the select few of you who once owned a GT, but now have the GT500.

1. How much did your insurance premium increase?

2. How much did your average mpg decrease from the 4.6L to the 5.4L? (i.e. I average 20.5 to 21.0 mpg in hwy city mix driving and 25.5 mpg interstate mpg with the 4.6L)

The mpg part isn't a deal breaker, as it does not matter to me. Both questions are just curiosity so that I'm not jumping head first into a pool with no water in it. I don't like surprises and like to be informed pre-trade.

Thanks guys.

If your not using it as a daily driver get specialty car insurance for it and it"s cheaper , as far as the fuel mileage it was minimal. The s/i allow 6000 miles a year and it has to be garage kept.

I will drive it daily, so that isn't an option for me. Until I get a beater that is.....

ok,,,i dont know your age or anything,.,...however I will tell you my insurance rates went up like $20 every 6 months when switching from my 05 gt to my 08 gt500. no bs....have geico...been a geico customer for like 10 years plus...no accidents etc...

now my mpg on my 05 was not the greatest with all of my mods...bigger injectors, saleen series vi supercharger 3.6 pulley...long tube headers..422 rwhp and 416 torque .etc etc etc...so I was getting like 15 city spirited driving...and 22 mpg highway with Justin at VMP's tune with all mods

my 08 with its current mod list
stock sc, smaller pulley, bigger throttle body, cold air intake..new tune..high flow cats...high flow inlet elbow plenum..close to 600 rwhp and torque. (should be over 600 rwhp when i get my sc port matched to the plenum) I am getting about 11mpg (Very spirited driving) and can get 22 mpg on the highway at 78mph with cruise set in 6th gear...

good luck and hope this helps...

My Gt500 was only about $50.00 per year more for the first year, now it is like 200-300 more per year. Mileage is not even close to the GT as it is more tempting to always be into it to to hear the awesome S/C whine. Plus those FR500S mufflers sound sweet at WOT.

I'm 34 years old, been with Allstate for over 15 years, and just got a driver discount in the mail the other day for a good accident free driving record. Well, that means insurance won't be an issue at all. NICE!

Now that 11 MPG would break my heart, but that's the price you pay for 600+ rwhp, and I can still grandma over 20 MPG on the hwy, sweet! Although, I'm going to be tempted to upgrade the SC to the Whipple 2.9L with all the extras for that 700 rwhp Lethal Performance is advertising.

The temptations of a job that pays well....

Ummmm..... Don't know who you are addressing?? However yes you can and yes I did exceed 20 mpg in my modded gt as well as my gt500 on the highway...you may want to research fuel efficiencies , tunes, driving habits, environmental and geographical impact etc and the modern day engine before making statements that challenge facts
thx

everything mentioned above practically applys with me too..

The mpg was one of the biggest things to get used to. In my 2005 Vortech HO Supercharged Mustang GT I could get anywhere from 17-20 around town and 25-27 on the interstate, and now, as cheft mentioned above, it's 11-13 around town and 20-22 on the interstate.

I still have my GT and I agree with all thats been stated...pretty much the same costs etc...but let me say...having both cars...I see how far above the GT a GT500 is...and if you dont get one if you have the chance...you are missing out BIG TIME!!...and YES get a beater for work and bad weather..
