Default Dyno results are in on my CAI, Pulley (2.68), and Custom Tune.

I'd like to say i'm impressed but i'm not really excited with the results. I had the FRPP CAI and ProCal tune Dyno's last month at 483.9 RWHP and approx 466 Torque (approx 60 degrees out). I removed it and installed the Steeda GT-500 CAI, supercharger pulley, belt tensioner, and their Custom tune. Those numbers today, with a cool engine, and around 50 degree's out was 518.3 RWHP and approx 498 Torque. So i gained 34.4 HP and 32.0 Torque. I was expecting more than this to be honest. The Dyno operator told me the tune was very conservative with air fuels consistant in the high elevens/low twelves. I had a ton of black soot on the tailpipes. So i guess if i pay for another custom tune after data logging i can get the numbers up to the 540 to 550 range as i had been wanting.....when they say a car tune is SAFE i guess this is what they are talking about. The Dyno guy did say the car was very smooth across the power band.

I guess my first question would have to be, what type of dyno was your car dynoed on?

With the modification upgrades listed in my signature, my car dynoed at 532rwhp/514rwtq @ 14.2psi on a Mustang Dyno.

On the same Mustang Dyno, I had a friend dyno at 504rwhp/???rwtq @ 13.9psi. He installed the 2.65 upper pulley, CAI and custom tune.

On the same Mustang Dyno, I had another friend dyno at 520rwhp/518rwtq @ 14.8psi. He installed the new 2.59 upper pulley, CAI & custom tune. (I think his numbers weren't that high because his car happened to get dynoed on a hot & humid day)

I listed these examples because depending on the type of dyno your car was dynoed on, they aren't really out of line. Now, if your car was dynoed on a Dyno Jet dyno, then I'd have to agree that they would seem somewhat low.

It's a Dyno Dynamics Chassis Dyno. It seems they have installed and custom tuned several of our cars with my mod's listed, i.e. CAI, Pulley, (different brands), and had consistant results between 540-560 at the wheels. I think the mail-order custom tune is just super conservative.

Has anyone had a mail order custom tune installed and then dyno'd with results as high as the above 540-560?, or did it take a custom tune right off the Dyno?

dont get too hung up on the numbers and be discouraged. Allot of factors weigh into the numbers and it could be many reasons why the numbers are what they are...(well besides just that)

to me a mail order tune is just that....they are protecting their rep by leaving them rich so no kaboom...
also note that our cars start with different base lines as well...based on your numbers from the Pro Cal ford tune (which by the way is not a bad tune...its actually pretty darn good) you were probably about 440 ish rwhp and 420 ish on torque...give or take..

my car was similar but with Justin at VMP's actual dyno tune and tweaks I was at 544 rwhp and 546 torque at 74-78 degree ambient temp...

the first run was with the Ford racing tune and CAI, the 2nd with Justins tune and the 3rd with Justins (VMP) tune and 2.65 pulley..of course numbers have increased with my throttle body change and ported plenum as well as high flow cats....but dont get too hung up on the numbers...you are still driving a beast that puts down over 500 HP to the wheels...thats not nothing to sneeze at....

Thanks a lot for your response, as i think you are right on the money with the comments on the mail order tune. I will have it custom tuned (for real) in the spring and get some track numbers for the books. I have a 2002 Lightning (stock block) that runs 11.53 with slicks so the Shelby has a foe to attack!

I dont know if I would consider that very conservative, more like exactly where you want to be. Look at the others poster here, they were at 12 max. Sorry to do this, but this is my GT with some bolt ons and a Saleen @9.5 (ok agressive cams too)

My air/fuel is at 11.6 leaning up to 11.8 around 6400rpm
