Default Two Options Need Help deciding?

I have basically two options I am considering.

1. an 03 or 04 Cobra which I have one already picked out with 93000 miles. It is in great condition besides having a replaced transmission which damaged the floor pan. This has been fixed and is a nice looking car but has a damaged car fax. The T56 I heard is garbage for anything over 450 ft lbs of torque.

2. an 07-09 Shelby GT500 and they have been steadily going down in price. I can get one and have a warranty and also a nice car note to go along with it but the good news is a lot less miles and a lot more modern car.

I am very familiar with both cars as I have driven both. It just is hard for me to justify anything over 10 grand for a 8 year old car even though it is a Cobra Mustang. I have seen 03 and 04 Cobras with 20 thousand miles sell for 20-25 grand and the 07-09s go for 30-35 grand. The S197s have came down in price a lot in the past few years especially when people begin to dump them as gas approaches 4 dollars a gallon. It is not a big deal to me since I own two gas sippers and will not be driving the Mustang that much other than to shows and races.

I really just would like some ideas from people who have owned both cars. The 03 to 04 appeal to me from a raw muscle car standpoint and the s197 is great for having a more modern car. Those that have owned or do own both, please let me know which one you like better and the reasons for your decision of going with the one you went with? thanks

I think they are both awesome cars.

As far as the GT500 is concerned, it's an awesome car from the factory and with a few modifications, pulley swap, CAI & Tune, you can increase the horsepower quite a bit.

That terminator sounds like it has been beat on severely. I assume the transmission created the damage and not from replacing it. How does a floor pan get damaged unless you grenade the transmission or drop the drive shaft. Both are a result of beating the sh** out of it. And possibly 93,000 miles of it. I would assume the price is low with the damage and not clean carfax. This car is still sought after so that keeps the price up. And as the saying goes you get what you pay for.

I've owned a '99 GT and my current S197, although neither were/are supercharged.

My 05 is much easier to shift and more comfortable to drive. My advice is get the newer technology.

I prefer the s197, it looks better, and with a few mods sounds just insane

yeah saw the Cobra today and it is old and while a nice a car these are still 8-9 years old and not worth it. I will sell the Audi and then pick up an 07-09 GT500 they get a little better mpg and make more power. One is a 4.6L and the other a 5.4 so that matters

I looked at the cobra again and it is legit. I love the looks of the 03 and 04 terminators. The only thing I have a problem with is the cheap *** Chinese tires they have on it. I will never understand why dumb asses will buy 40 -50 thousand dollar cars and then get the cheapest tires and gas they can find. If you do not have the money to maintain it then do not buy it. Geez. Not that hard really.

I bought an 07 Hemi Charger R/T brand new and always ran mid grade fuel on it and had all maintenance done at the dealer. The Cobras and Gt500s have to run premium only I am sure. It just makes more sense. Guess that is why most modern muscle cars get beat the **** on then dumped. If they will take an offer I can not walk away from then I will probably be the owner of an 03 Cobra. If not then I will find a lower mileage GT500.
