Normal Sound For GT500 Clutch or Something Wrong?
Bear with me here. Just got this GT500.
But I noticed when I have the windows rolled down that when I have the clutch pressed down... there is a hissing sound that is constant until I let off the clutch.
I know these have different clutches than the GT's but I do not know if
this is a normal sound or not.
If it is great!
If not... what is wrong?
Thanks!

Hrm I read on the GT500 forums it was NOT normal.
There is a TSB out for the clutch, flywheel, and sometimes even the TRANNY if it goes to far.....
The original flywheels seem to be WARPING on people.
I'm wondering if this TSB should be done on ALL GT500's up to the 09's to safeguard the tranny as well!
They said they JUST started putting in the new ones so even some of the 09's have the same problem.

The his is normal, it is the ceramic plates in the clutch engaging when you relase the clutch.
A ford dealer won't perform a Tsb on every gt500 for the heck of it. The car must display symptoms of the Tsb. Search team Shelby, there are multiple Tsb threads with the most recent bulletin and a lot of valuable info

Did some digging.
Think I do have the problem.
Do you know how common it is for this to happen with the flywheel?
Apparantly they are warping on some of these cars and the clutch, flywheel, slave and more must be replaced. For the people who have it really bad it can even mess up the syncros and cause for a tranny rebuild!

There will be a momentary hissing sound when you shift to neutral and release the clutch, but it should not be constant with the clutch pedal held to the floor. The flywheel on the 2007 to 2009 (up to Sept 2008 build) cars have a nodular Iron flywheel with a tendency to warp when heated up with lots of stop-n-go driving. There's a TSB on this issue. There are some threads over on Team Shelby with lots of good information on this issue:

This his isn't anything to worry about.
Mine had a warped flywheel causing my issues. Which in turn messed up the 2nd gear syncros.
If you aren't having and gear grinding issues whatsoever I think you are alright.
If you read the Tsb there are a few tests that will show you if your car is showing any symptoms

I have 8k on my Snake...the clutch is fine for now...but is moving up higher in the point of engagement...I fully expect the thing to begin to slip soon...but I have a new clutch sitting in a box ready to go...
Blacksmoke...as long as the clutch has travel off the floor before engaging...you are ok...if it is warped...the engage point is instant and even wont fully disengage...causing the tranny problems...
if it is not warped...the problem is the disc material is much harder then the flywheel and will wear the flywheel down fairly quickly...better save for a new clutch at some point...
