Default Wheel / Tire Size ?

Hi Guys,

I have the Shelby Brembo Brakes on my car. I am currently running 20 inch Razor wheels. But I do not like the ride and also want more sidewall on the tire.

I have been looking for an 18 or 19 wheel that I like the looks of that will clear the Bembo brake, but have not found one. So I am wondering about another option -

What if I ran a 295/45R20 on the rear? Would it clear the fender? Would it look rediculous? I note that the factory tire is 27.03 inches and this would be about 30 inches.

Thoughts?

The other option I thought of, was the only wheel that I do (kind of) like is the 19 inch Ford Racing wheels that are the same as the Boss Laguna Wheels. But will there be much or any improvement in ride going from a 20 down to a 19? Seems like an 18 would be better.....

Thanks for any suggestions!

You'll lose performance since it lowers your overall gear ratio and won't gain much in ride quality. For ride quality, I'd go with 18's; 17's if they'd clear the brakes. Besides, sidewall simply gives the S197 a lot of attitude. I'd swap my GT500 takeoff 18's with my g/f's 17's if her OE wheels were wider...

Is there a big difference in ride from the 20's to the 18's? I am driving my car daily now and these 20's are VERY firm.

Also, I don't care for the "rubber band" look, especially on the rear.....

The difference is tough to measure since you could get a 20" with a little more flex in the siddewall than an 18" with a very stiff sidewall, but overall and with everything else being equal, the 18's will give you an improved ride. With most 18" wheels you'd run a 40 or 45 series tire. And as I stated earlier, I'd be running 17's if I had to do it over again.

I also don't care for the wagon wheel with rubber band look. I like to admire a car and then it's wheels; not admire wheels and then the car.
