Quick Question for 2011 or 2012 GT500 Owner...
I've got a 2010 GT, so I'm clearly in the wrong forum . However, I have the problem of the leaking axle vent on track (be it the OEM one or the turkey baster), which is where the 2011 GT500 comes in. If I understand correctly, the 2011 GT500 has an aluminum rear diff cover that relocates the axle vent from the axle to up near the top of the diff cover. I plan to buy said diff cover from LMR, put the vent up top on it, and then plug the hole where the OEM vent/turkey baster goes.
The question is, does the 2011+ GT500 have some kind of plug in the axle where the vent used to be located? Or does the axle simply not have a vent hole machined into it now since it goes on the diff cover? Point being, if there's a nice overpriced plug from Ford, I'd rather install that permanently than try to cut down a bolt that size to be short enough to work. Let me know if you guys can help out.
Also, on my car the vent is on top of the axle on the passenger side, but I believe in 2011 they switched it to the driver side. Presumably yours would be on the driver side as well, if there's still a vent there or a hole with a plug in it.

I was able to locate a local dealer with both a 2011 GT500 and a Boss 302 in stock. To answer my own question I crawled under both with a flashlight, and there is indeed just a bolt (effectively a plug) on the axle, and the little metal spring vent is up at the top of the diff cover. The parts guy there was helpful, but Ford does not show that bolt in his system yet. Anyway, good to know how it's set up.
