Reverse Lockout Failure

Reverse Lockout Failure
I drive a 2008 Ford GT500 which has a Tremec 6060 6-speed manual transmission, also found in the late model Corvette, Camaro, GTO, G8, and Dodge Viper and Challenger. At first, the shifter worked fine. The lockout solenoid would engage at 3 mph and close off access to the reverse gear. Shifting from 4th to 5th gear was easy as the lockout gate would limit my right throw to the proper position just under the 5th setting. Then, after a few months, the reverse lockout would fail occasionally, allowing me to shift past 5th and over to the reverse setting (I drive my GT500 every day so I knew better than to throw the stick up). Eventually, the lockout stopped working completely and the solenoid had to be replaced. The new lockout worked for awhile and then started to fail intermittently like the original. Then summer arrived and the problem disappeared. Now it's getting colder and the problem has returned. The mechanics can't figure it out. Has anybody?

I am told the lockout solenoid is located in the transmission, just under the shifter. Update: Ford authorized a new solenoid under warranty and replaced it this week. I hope this one solves the problem. I'll keep posting.

Reverse Lockout Failure Update 1
Update- New solenoid seems to be fine. It's been nearly 3 months since the repair and I haven't experienced a single incident of lockout failure.
By the way, I noticed from a picture at the Detroit Auto Show in Jan that the 2011 GT CS has a 6-speed manual trans with Reverse position just left of 1st. So unintentional shifts into Reverse when going for 5th won't be a problem anymore; but, how does one keep from accidentally shifting into Reverse when they want to shift into first?

Today I had a brain fart and tried to force the shifter into reverse thinking is it was 6th when I know dam well it is below fifth. It never went in thank god! Can any damage be done by doing this or bend the linkage or who knows what??
Thanks.
Thanks.
