Once you fill the tank with gas the info cluster where the odometer is will tell you miles or kilometres to empty. It always monitors fuel level and beeps once the level gets to 80km or 50 miles till empty to remind yo to fill up.

It keeps a running average based on the calculated and accumulated trending of MPG...it is simply projecting an estimate of how far you are going to go based on the past trending...is that what you are asking?

I never use the miles to empty, mainly because the on-board is typically too inaccurate plus it's basing the value on how you drove on the previous tank(s). AND, I'm never that stupid to run my tank low enough to get the low fuel warning. If you want to know how far a tank will get you, hand calculate your mileage so you know under what conditions and driving styles you get what kind of fuel mileage. Based on a full tank of 16 gallons, you'll have a much better idea of how far you can go based on similiar driving conditions and styles.
