If it is stock then your 08 gt500 has 3.31 gears unless again they were already switched.. So with that being silos what are your future goals ?
Do you plan to add s/c upgrade? If so I would not suggest 4.10 ... I would say 3.73 is the most u would want to go but even that I would say 3.55 would be better... I still have my 3.31 at my power levels and I couldn't even imagine going to 3.73... First and second are almost useless now with the torque and power... Hope this helps a bit

+1! I cant imagine having lower gears...at a 547 rwhp level in mine...I am well below TJ and I have to hit and shift 1st & 2nd pretty fast...

I had 3.31's and i'm getting 3.73's installed this week. I was at 650rwhp/612ft/lbs before the 10% lower, longtubes, o/r x, 72 lb injectors, and VMP BAP's. You have stock 3.31 gears unless yours is a KR (3.73's) . I have heard 90% of positive feedback for people running 3.73's. 3.73's come on the '11/'12 GT500's with the SVTPP if I remember correctly. Most people state that going to 3.73's was the best mod they ever did. The 3.31's kind of fall on their face from a stop and also reverse is a bit of a pain. With 3.73's it is much more fluid from a stop and better street drivability. Many people say that 3.73's are what they should have came with and they are the best for street driveabilty. If you get serious about going to the track 4.10's. This is a popular topic that is talked about on the other forums. Get some drag radials and don't fear the gear!

Well your speedo would be off unless the person before you had it tuned and has it set to the new gear ratio. Have you had yours tuned, aka do you have a SCT tuner or something similar? I would go out driving around with a buddy of yours on the highway and agree to go a certain speed and make sure your speedometers match up. I'm going to go on the hunch that you have stock 3.31's.

Oh i see i got this car from the dealer and it didn't come with a tuner so my guess is it is 3.31. So if i change to a 3.73 what whould i gain out of it? Quicker lunch from a stop? I really dont have any idea on how it works.

correct... your acceleration will be quicker. The trade-off will be you will lose some top end. But unless you plan on going to the texas mile that shouldn't be an issue...

i see i think i'm getting this now so having a higher gear gives me more a chance against awd cars from dead stop? but not so much in the long run? do you think its a good idea for me to go with a 3.73 if i only drive the car on the weekend? i don't really go to the drag or the track just an occasionally run in to the freeways.
