MT 305s, powdercoating, and rear decklids..
So I would always read about peoples experiences not being able to shift from 1-2 on the 2011 gt500s even with the SVTPP....I didn't think it was this serious until I finally bought mine and jesus christ there is no traction!
In car&driver I read that these stock 19/front 20/rear were great with these "sticky" tires....so much for that!
anyways I have a buddy who would sell me his brand new Mickey Thompson 305/35/20 ET street drag radials for $575. Should I jump on these or maybe get the Nito's or TOYO R888 for a little more dough?
Secondly, I have a red with white stripe combo SVTPP and love the wheels but I think they would look better in a gloss black...does anyone have pictures of these wheels powdercoated black on a red gt500?
I live in Los Angeles so if any of you have any good powedercoating shops that can recommend?
Has anyone put the rear MMD black tail light trim with the black decklid panel that has the opening to still see the trunk emblem on their cobras?
If you have any pictures of these setups that would be greatly appreciated!
I found a similair picture but this is of a GT and really want to see the shelbys full rear with stripes...I would also be smoking out the white reverse lights to black.

I believe what you are referring to is the actual shifting going from 1st to 2nd in those year models at high rpms at WOT, not the traction portion of it.
Street tires are not going to give you traction...
20" rear wheels are not helping your cause either...
Make sure that you get some lower control arms and probably the upper control arm to help calm the notorious wheel hop issue. I have had the Nitto 555R drag radials and the M&H Racemaster drags. The 555R's were better for the street I think, M&H's are better for track. M&H are definite no bueno in rainy conditions. 555R's weren't much better in rain (which no drag radial will be), but they were better.
I have the NT05's on now for the winter. I'll probably either get the 555R's or NT05R's around the March timeframe..
Not sure if you're still close to stock, but I'm ~725 at the wheels and the 555R's and M&H's stuck pretty nicely on my 18"s.
Best of luck!

If you're wanting a drag radial that is going to be more daily driven, the 555R's are the better choice.

The Mickeys will hook better than the Nittos or the Toyo tires, but they wont last quite as long OR do as well in the rain. There is no 20" drag radial that will give you great traction, but it will be much improved over stock.
As for the pics of the tail light trim and blackout panel, I cant help you. I did both of those mods to my DD 2005 GT and they I think it looks really good, however there is no way I would ever do it to my GT500. To me, the Shelbys appearance speaks for itself, and any changes kind of take away from it rather than help. Just my .02....
