I'm new!! Cold air intake

Hey, I'm new here,,, first Mustang! 2022 GT. Love it! Traded a Dodge Challenger R/T for it,

Anyway, is a cold air intake worth doing on it or K&N filter... or leave it alone? .. I read that on these new ones the stock air cleaner/system is as good as anything...
Thanks!!

Welcome.

The 2022 is already a "cold air intake" since it has a snorkel to the front grille pulling air into the intake. The aftermarket CAI is an open element typically which can introduce the hot engine bay air into the intake. No real benefit to it performance wise, but some like the look better and there is additional intake noise.

As far as the filter, supposedly the K&N will breathe better.

Airbox carbon filter

I did install a K&N filter.

Is it OK to remove the Carbon filter in the top cover on the airbox? Read the it may mess up the sensor.? Why is it on the ' 22 and '23 and probably '24 GT's ?

Thanks!

Many have removed the carbon filter with no issues. But I'm not sure they saw any performance increase either - just a change in sound.

Thanks Jim.

One last question (probably not..LOL).. if I remove the carbon filter in the top of the airbox will it throw a code or any other issues?

Once again thank you!
