Does that match the registry?

Good afternoon everyone, first time poster. Im looking at an 01 Saleen s281sc speedster and seems im getting a good deal. But the car does need an ac compressor and the paint is good but not perfect. Below i have posted the number and vin and just want to make sure its legit and a true speedster and that at $16,000 and 67000 miles its as good of a deal as i think it is. Thanks for your time.

I neglected to post here that we confirmed this by email as an authentic Saleen S281.

So sorry for the delay... again, I don't come here every day.

Yes, this is an authentic Saleen #01-0045, an S281 convertible in black with dark charcoal interior. It shipped with floor mats, speedster package, and chrome wheels.

It seems that the supercharger may have been added by an owner -- ask to see the window sticker or a Letter of Authenticity or contact Saleen to order one before you buy.

Good luck!

See post #1 that started this thread. The registry is only complete up to 2003.

I still get several emails as a result of this thread and I am happy to help. If you email me (or PM or email any other members that like to help), please keep in mind the following:

*1984's are off the market
*We can only look up 1985-2003
*You must tell us what year the car is, as well as the bumper/plaque number of the Saleen.
*Last three digits of the VIN are required, however full VIN will allow us to further confirm it's the correct body (Hatch, Coupe, Vert)

As sowaxeman indicated above, the printed registry only goes up to 2003, and it's that registry that a lot of people use to "verify" a Saleen, though this technique does have its flaws.

When you contacted us via The Saleen Forums at soec.org http://saleenforums.soec.org back in November, we were able to verfiy through our connections at Saleen that this vehicle is a clone or tribute car, and we hope you have been enjoying it -- especially given the nice price point at which you purchased it.

The very unfortunate reality is there are fake dash plaques and underhood data plates, as well as legitimate (but unused) dash plaques available on the gray market -- none of which are authorized for sale by Saleen.

Always perform a "Saleen Verification" by either contacting us, or by contacting Saleen directly (usually contacting us provides an expedited verification thanks to our close and longtime relationship with Saleen).

Yes, that is #03-0132 S281 Mustang coupe, normally aspirated, in Sonic Blue with a 4-speed Automatic O/D.

Saleen can provide an LOA or copy of the window sticker.
