Default 2002 Saleen extreme #47 - For Sale

Hi, I'm helping my dad sell his Saleen. He lives rurally where internet connections are slow, and he doesn't get cell reception.

It's the real deal, and I'm trying to educate myself on all the stats so I can answer questions about it. I'd honestly buy it myself if I could, but I can't afford it. Still, it's an awesome car.

It's never been in an accident, it does have some very minor cosmetic damage in the paint job, from rock chips, etc. He bought it from Folsom Lake Ford and was the only owner.

It has 18,220 miles on it. It's a yellow convertible with a black canvas top.

The car is currently in Sacramento, CA and he's asking $38,000 or best offer

Call me if you have any interest - Ananda at 916.548.7104

2002 Saleen Saleen Mustang S281 2 Door Convertible
Average Retail = $26200.00

2002 Saleen Saleen Mustang S281 SC 2 Door Convertible
Average Retail = $29700.00

2002 Saleen Saleen Mustang S281-E 2 Door Convertible
Average Retail = $43800.00

You need to post more info on the car. With the paint chips, you will not get full value. Saleen will not release the paint code to get it repainted. you can only try and match, or go to an authorized Saleen Body Shop, and that's expensive to repaint the car.

Why do you need Saleen to release the paint code?? Unless its Rainbow Extreme, Byrillium, or one of their other few $15K custom paints, then its ford factory yellow for '02 which would have the code on the factory door jamb label [&:]

It's this one:
2002 Saleen Saleen Mustang S281-E 2 Door Convertible
Average Retail = $43800.00

Which is why I said extreme.

I really want to help my father sell this car, so can you help me with what more information I should try to provide?

It's a Saleen S281-E, and from my research (which may be wrong, as it came from the internet) it's serial number 47 out of 70 made that year.
It has 18,000 miles on it. It has the proper plates and the serial number on the bumper and everything it's supposed to have to be the real deal, and it should because my father was the only owner, and he bought it new for like, 80K at Folsom Lake Ford.
It has lots of upgrades, though all the upgrades were selections at the time of purchase, my father did nothing after market with the car.

Also, from what I know, it's the standard Mustang Yellow paint that Ford produces.

I'll try to post pics of the actual car later today, or tomorrow, but in the mean time, I scrounged this pic off the internet, and though IT'S NOT THE CAR I'm selling, it looks just like it to my untrained eye, and could give people an idea of what it does look like.

I've been wondering about this. While I have no reason at all to doubt my father, I noticed the little back plate on the car says SE281 and it says "supercharged" below that, but it doesn't say SE281 - E. Is it supposed to? My father told me to stress that it's an "extreme" upgrade or model and that it has all these bored out special Saleen upgrades over even a normal Saleen. Again, I have no reason whatsoever to doubt him. Please let me know what you find out. Obviously, if they only made 30 or so, my dad's 47 has issues, and he'll want to know.

The number 47 doesn't represent WHEN it was made. It can be #47, but the only car made like it - one of only 30 E"s. They're made in batches of models at various times. JUST AN EXAMPLE: if there were a total of 800 Saleens made in 2002 (S281, S281 SC and S281 E) then his car is #47 of 800 but 1 of only 30 E's, and quite possibly 1 of 1 as optioned (yellow, vert, E, etc...) If he is the original owner he should have an official Saleen Registry Letter from Team Saleen that verifies it authenticity and 1 of ?? status. I can provide specific #'s later when I get home.

I've never seen an EXTREME so I don't know if the plaque should say SE281 or S281-E. Birdiemann and a couple others on here can verify that.

The #47 means that is the number Saleen that was made, not the number vert that was made. It may be 70 total and 30 verts. If they numbered the coupes were made first, then they would be 1-40 and the verts would be 40-70. He wasn't saying 30 total Saleens just 30 verts. I think....that is the way I read it.
