Default Order a Replica or Saleen wheel?

Some idiot hit my car and one of my wheels is off-true. His Insurence is going to buy another wheel for me. They will cover the real Saleen wheel. I don't know if I should get the real one ($520) or get a replica ($245?) and pocket the extra cash to use towards a fiberglass Saleen S/C hood (No, I won't spend $1400 on the aluminum one). What is your opinion. Is the Replica good enough? Is the weight different? Will it matter at high speeds? Does it affect resale value? etc??? Sowaxeman, response would be appreciated!

Get a replica. From everyone I know that has them I keep hearing they are better quality.

Unless you do your own paint and body, and have 3-4 hours to layout all the holes you have to drill to mount the hood- I would advise you look into the aluminum version should you decide on a hood.

I sent my fiberglass hood back and got the aluminum version after seeing what a pain in the *** it was going to be to get it installed.

Plus, there are tons of complaints on the fiberglass hoods shaking and moving at highway speeds.

Just an FYI.

Excellent - I never thought of using that as my excuse, I like it

Daydark, sorry to hear about your misfortune. At some point in the next 3-5 years I am probably going to buy a complete Saleen body kit & suspenstion and store it away JUST IN CASE I have a misfortune down the road. I'd hate to get in a minor wreck that requires new parts that are now longer available [:@]

As for the wheel, if you are looking to be 100% original then let the insurance buy the realdeal. If you don't care so much about the originality argument, then definitely by the OE (OE as in company name not OriginalEquipment )wheel - but buy it directly from OEWheelsnot a distributor such as the link you posted. Igotta believe you'dget a better price direct. OE wheels can befound in any mustang magazine.

How much other damage - body or saleen kit?? Hope they get it all fixed to your satisfaction

Oh yeah - they both weighed the same when I put them on the scale. And as for resale, I highly doubt it would do much to the value unless you were trying to sell a 100 pointer, numbers matching car in like 25 years

There are only 2 minor differences in the wheel and unless you are overly **** like me you probably won't even see them. And oh yeah - be sure to save your Saleen center cap, it will fit in there instead of the R center cap that comes with it.

Hard enough to knock a wheel out of true - are you sure there is not suspension damage under there as well [&:] So what is needed -just a new wheel, fender and fascia? Or is the fascia salvagable?

I heard a the car that hit Sowaxeman was driving too fast and after hitting him, proceed tomow downa disabled Vietnam Veteran and thenskidded across the divider and hit a Nobel Peace Prize winner beforeplowing a busload of orphans on their way to Christmas dinner. One child was in the middle of bottle feeding a puppy and the Axeman came to the rescue.

That is the way I heard it, but you may have heard a different story.

The Jazzer on lifting Bloodhound Gang lyrics

EDIT: Here's the complete lyrics as I cannot take credit for this little dity:

I Hope You Die lyrics
...You must die I alone am best!
I hope ya flip some guy the bird,
He cuts you off and you're forced to swerve,
In front of the Beatles' tour bus,
A Bookmobile and a Mack truck,
Hauling hazardous biological waste,
The light turns red you have no brakes,
And "Hard Copy" gets it all on tape,
So you can see the look on your face,
...Die Die Die Die Die Die Die!,
...Die Die Die Die Die Die Die!,
I hope your Pinto begins to spin,
Takes out a disabled Vietnam Veteran,
Mows down a Nobel Peace Prize Winner,
And maybe some orphans having Christmas dinner,
Perhaps even the British Royal Family,
And the Rabbi that's clutching the bottle-fed puppy,
And we can't forget the newlyweds,
And those Jerry's Kids are as good as dead,
I hope this helps to emphasize,
I hope this helps to clarify,
I hope you die,
I hope your cellmate thinks he's God,
But C.N.N. refer to him as "Bowling Ball Bag Bob",
Serving time again for abuse of a corpse,
Only this time the victim's a Clydesdale horse,
While he *********** to photos of livestock,
He does the "Silence of the Lambs" dance to Christian Rock,
Eats feces and quotes from "Deliverance",
And fights with his imaginary playmate Vince,
...Die Die Die Die Die Die Die!,
...Die Die Die Die Die Die Die!,
I hope he grins like Jack Nicholson,
And forces you to play a game called ***** On Chin,
And whatever happens next is all a blur,
But you remember "fist" can be a verb,
And when you finally regain consciousness,
You're bound and gagged in a wedding dress,
And the prison guard looks the other way,
'Cause he's the guy ya flipped the bird the other day,
I hope this helps to emphasize,
I hope this helps to clarify,
I hope you die,
...I hope you die!.
