Default Saleen Transmission

Not to be a newbie but i was wondering if anyone knew whether or not saleen has ever made a mustang with an automatic transmission. Someone that lives around me is trying to tell me that his car is a real saleen but it has an auto I am really confused any response will help.

Saleen is right. On special order only, Saleen will do an automatic. The only way to get this option is to order it specially; they won't do one unless someone requests one. Most years, Saleen has produced a very small number of automatics. I'd have to dig it out, but I think in 03 they did only 2. What year Saleen are you looking to buy?

Which tranny is standard for a 2004? Is it a 5 or 6 speed manual?
Can an old school, 351w, bell housing be used on one?
I may have stumbled onto one from a wrecked Saleen and would consider adapting to my 69 Mach1...

I haven't even seen it, just heard of it.
If I can get answers to my questions, I can probably inquire about more parts...

Ok, for 04 a 5 speed manual was standard on a Saleen. It is the tremec 3665. It should be possible to adopt the tranny to your Mach, but that bellhousing wont match correctly. It could be do-able, though. Also understand the tranny in a standard Saleen is the same tranny in a standard mustang gt. Nothing special until you get an S281E, which has a T56 6 speed, and is a much better tranny.

Thanks...I'll look for bellhousing pattern and other info from tremec. I was told that the car was supercharged. Is that what you mean by S281E? Or are there other variants?
