Default Did i just hear correctly about the GT500kr???

i was just listening to a reporter on our local new station interviewing Carroll Shelby as they were revealing the new Shelby GT500kr. Nice car, but did i just hear that it will have 40 extra horse and be selling for $100,000 MORE THAN THE REGULAR GT500?

yeah its a pretty nice car...but COME ON! there is NO mustang worth $150,000.

i would think it would be the truecompetitor of the Extreme, am i right? or is there diamonds in the headrests i dont know about?

They are only building 1,000 of them so I'm sure there will be some fleecing involved. No idea what the price will be (haven't seen itlisted yet myself)

The only Ford I'm spending that kind of money on is the GT.

i wouldnt even buy one of those lol. if your going to spend 150k on a car...you might as well wait a few years and buy the S7! imo.

however, my buddy was just telling me about these two cars from Lansing that are twin turbo ford GT's and made 1250 RWHP. He went for a ride and on the freeway at about 70 mph the guy told him to put his head back and it felt like he was in a 9 second drag car taking off from the line lol.

....its nice having money ehh? [sm=happybounce.gif]

I doubt the msrp will be $150k, but I wouldn't be surprised if dealers tried to charge that much.

I'm sure they will try to get that much and I'm sure some idiots will pay it. I wouldn't mind having a twin turbo GT.

Just makes no sense to me. If I were going to spend 150k on a car I would have scarfed up a Ford GT.

Lets see - Saleen is about to wrap up production on only 500 Saleen/PJ S-302's and they are selling AT MSRP. Shelby is going to make 1000 of these cars and expecting $150k [&:]

If you want something that is unique and will be a no-brainer collector car in the future my money would go towards a PJ.

cant really see it being competition for the Extreme, for a start the engine is approx 200lbs heavier in the GT500KR

Actually, I read elsewhere that the MSRP will be $50k but they figure with the dealer markup, the car should sell for around $100k.

"The Cobra badges will get special 40th Anniversary branding and an individually numbered plate will sit in the center of the dash to remind everyone that this car is one of only 1,000 units. There will be no convertible model and pricing won't be announced until closer to production almost a year from now, although you can probably expect an MSRP somewhere close to $50,000 and retail prices well above that."

i dont know the weight of the twomotors. I do however know that the curb weight of the E is 3356 lbs. for the coupe and 3650 lbs. forthe convertible...and the curb weight of the GT500 is 3920 pounds in coupe form and 4040 pounds for the convertible.

Do the math [sm=smiley20.gif]and still 10 extra horse, not including the extra power the forged internals can handle if you ever wanted to up the boost (option on the 07 tripple black saleen with 600 hp. ...bigger injectors and 14 lbs of boost.)

i cant figure it out. its a differnece of opinion i guess, but imo, as was said earlier, PJ is a better bet most definately if your looking for a collector car!

I'm just waiting on my crankshaft pulley to come in. I'll be doing all the bolt-ons in one shot. The extreme is VERY capable of doing 700 RWHP. Its my mission to prove it!
