Saleen SC vs Corvette Z06

Saleen SC vs Corvette Z06
I am looking at an 08 Saleen SC and plan on adding the JDM blower upgrade which claims 447RWHP withover 500HP at the flywheel vs the stock 465HP at the flywheel. Two questions, does anyone know what the flywheel HP actually is (the dealer claims 530HP to 540HP) and how would it compare to an 08 Z06 which claims 505HP at the flywheel? I already know the Saleen is way cooler, I am just wondering how it compares performance wise. Thanks.

For the most part, I'm sure the Z06 will out perform the Saleen if both are stock. They are juss in two different classes. But no doubt the Saleen is way cooler. I dunno bout the flywheel, sorry bro.

The Z06 is a beast. And it can put all that power to the ground because it was designed to do so, unlike the Saleens (or any other aftermarket Mustang builder) which are not set up to handle the extra HP.

I have to agree against the C6. I honestly think you would have a big problem against a C5 Z06. I just sold mine (C5Z)for an 06 Saleen SC, and I know my C5 Z would spank it hands down! There are a few people whodipped into the11's with a stock C5 Z06. I cannot imagine what a C6Z is like! However, we are waaaaaaaaaay cooler. Much more people stop to ask, take pics, and like to talk about the Saleen. It is no slouch, but definitely not in the same league as a Z06.

I dont have the S/C saleen, I went with the N/A and added a Turbo. I am running about 450ish RWHP (mustang dyno) I ran 11.89 on street tires and pulled a 1.88 60 Ft time. NOt sure what I would do on slicks or DR (there coming)
I've ran stock C5 Z06 and with my current set up had him about 2 cars to 120
I've also ran a Stock C6 Z06 and I had the guy by a bumper to about 135. Now We all know as we get above 140-150 I would get handed my ***. I have a lot of power at 3500 rpm all the way up to 6500 rpm (limiter) I think anything more than stock it wouldn't even be a race. There two different cars. Weight is a big factor. Now I've handed the 07 C6 its *** (he was stock) all the way up to 150.I think thats what you should shoot for.
also I have raced a 435 rwhp Saleen S/C , even though it was a roll race(don't like and thats really where I shine with the turbo) It was not really a close race even though we were close in HP.

The only way to truly know the flywheel HP is with an engine dyno. Otherwise you are just bench dyno testing, which is even worse than magazine racing.
Performance wise, the '08 Z06 is out of your league unless you make a lot of mods.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments! They're pretty interesting. I just committed to an 08 Saleen SC281 convertible, so if I run up against a new Z06, I'll just smile and wave. If I can't out run him, I'll have to out cool him. lol.

Your right,
I have a lot of mods and I can only hang around to around 130-135. Soon that will all change. (also need to add I have 4.10 and Lentech Tranny) Going with a stroker. So it took me FI,NEW MOTOR,NEW TRANNY,SUSPENSION UPGRADES from what I already had.To be able to take a new Z06. Even at all that, my car won't make it to 200 and his will
Like I said stick with the Base model vette and things will work out a lot better

Well said guys. It is nice to have owners of a vehicle that actually know what they have, and what their limitations are. Most time you will see comments saying that we can beat them etc. Nice to know what a classy group of owners we have. Cheers to all of us!
