UPDATE on SALEEN Warranty and MJ Acquisitions
#11
Dont worry, your still covered by the Magnason act, they have the burdon to prove any failure was caused by a Saleen part, and odds are they cant and will have to cover it.

Jared,
While this does apply to many parts, if the part failure is the Saleen SC, Saleen installed gears/rear, or the Saleen 302ci engines for example, the owners are out quite a bit. By the nature of the Saleen "reflash" that opens up a whole can of worms for engine related troubles.
I got a call today from an owner that had to pay up (several thoudand dollars) as their warranty claim was not covered due to the Saleen Inc. BK. The dealer was not willing to lose this amount of money, and quite honestly, it is not their fault.
I feel the worst for the people who read the misinformation spewed by Jim and Dave as they assisted Saleen Inc in screwing owners for financial gain.
How one might ask.
By spreading the message of "business as usual" across the Internet, and by eliminating the possibility (with the edit/delete of posts over at their fanclub site) of the discussion of Saleen Inc. filing for BK and the warranty becoming worthless, they helped Saleen Inc. screw over owners by telling them there was no need to hurry up and get a claim in for service. These owners who waited are, as Jim would say "out of luck".
What do they care, they don't own a single Saleen between the two of them...
As I posted on stangnet:
I see that Jim has added this "Know a good corporate lawyer familiar with Chapter 7 liquidations under the bankruptcy code? Please contact us." to his info. I would be talking to my lawyer about how Jim and Dave assisted Saleen Inc. screw over owners for financial gain with the misinformation that they have put out there.

I don't think Jim and Dave did anything malicious, and I really don't think they tried to mislead anyone on this. They were going right from releases that were given to them. I don't think anyone really thought that Saleen Inc. was going to make this decision. I think that everyone kind of got blindsided here. I don't think that anyone has gained anything from this nor will they. Let's not point any fingers here at anyone other than the one's truly responsible for the decision, we all know who that is by now.
I can say that Jim and Dave do a great job of keeping everyone informed of what is going on in the Saleen world.
Thank you
Jess

I disagree. While they may have done some good in the past, they did a huge disservice by spreading false information. The "releases" were not given to them, they made them up.
If they did not make them up, then they are liars by posting all over the web they (Jim) wrote them.
They went out of their way to prevent discussions regarding the timeline that owners had until Saleen Inc. filed BK, and with their efforts to cover up and prevent discussions on this subject they aided Saleen Inc. in screwing owners for finacial gain.
While it is true that it was Saleen Inc. that filed for BK., they misled owners by spreading the word that it was "business as usual".
I also wish you and MJ the best in your new adventure.

I don't think anyone was blindsided by it. It's really very obvious. generally when you purchase a "distressed" company you file for BK to make sure the new owners don't inherit the unbelievable amount of debt the company has. HP planned to shut Saleen down completely before the sale and walk away, but opted to sell it instead and recoup some of the costs. But since they only sold the aftermarket division, (i.e. the only part of the company that made money), and they had all sorts of pending lawsuits just with S7, it only made sense to go that route.
The honesty of the situation is HP is not in business to do people favors, they did what was best for them, which sucks for everyone else. Trust me I don't believe any BS that MJ wanted to cover all the warranty, who in gods name would willingly take that burden when they don't have to?

All I know is that MJ better not have anything or anyone that points to them even having a hint that after the ink was dry on this venture HP was gonna pack it in and leave owners of Saleen vehicles without warranties.
Nuff said on my part.

There has to be some resolve here. I bought my car brand new with the guarantee of a warranty. I now have a rear end problem and a Air Temp gauge that doesn't work. I have yet to go to the dealership, partly because of the fact that I am afraid of what they have to tell me. Makes me sick to think that my car has 2500 miles, and the warranty is gone. And really, what is the Ford warranty going to cover? Everything has been modified by Saleen. Oh your motor blew up? Saleen supercharged it. Sorry. Oh your suspension is tweaked? Saleen modified it. Sorry. What is Ford really going to cover? I mean every issue we have with our cars can be directly applied to a Saleen modification. Makes me sick.

I'm not too pleased with this information, or the corporate speak from the folks claiming they've tried to "help" the poor consumers. I'll be blogging my way into the spotlight as soon as I can. I bought my car on Saturday... a 2008 American Flag edition car. I traded my 05 S2813v non supercharged car which was already out of warranty. The American Flag car is a tribute to our soldiers and sailors... in this instance they sold a new car, knowing full well they wouldn't back the warranty to a Sailor, who is currently deployed to Iraq. I wonder what the media would take away from that. At no point during my dealer interaction, which was via internet and my wife was there in person, did they mention the potential for warranty failure. I'm sure the arguement will be made that I could've research the company to make sure it's still going to do what it says it will do when I purchase a car... fortunately for me we have consumer protection laws and frankly if I'm gonna take it in the pants for repair bills I'm ok spending some cash on attorney's now.
Has anyone considered how this impacts the Lemon Law buy backs if you've got a car that's having problems and no manufacturer exists to buy it back?
