Thoughts on 2007 Saleen S281sc
Hey all, I'm looking to buy a 2007 S281sc with 35,000 miles on it for around 28k. It's been sitting on the lot for awhile, dropping from 35k recently, and frankly, this has been my dream car from the start. (Good price?)
Some things about the car:
- The carfax shows it was a corporate lease with no problems with just a serpentine belt being replaced.
-The outside is relatively pristine with little wear on the interior.
- The engine bay shows no sign of wear and is very clean underneath as well (checked by my mechanic friend).
I was just wondering what everyone's take on the 2007 S281sc is. If possible, I want a pretty honest and fair judgment of the car.
For instance,
1. How is the reliability?
2. Is buying an extended warranty recommended?
3. How fun is it to drive?
4. Can it be used as a DD (daily driver)?
5. Any major problems that are known with this car?
6. How would you measure its "bang for your buck"
7. How long can these cars last without encountering major ($$$$) issues?
8. How is the MT on the car, is it easy to adjust to? ( I haven't driven MT in awhile).
And most importantly,
9. On a scale from 1-10, rate its awesomeness
Thanks!!!

$28K is a bit much for a 35Kmi S281SC, I've seen them selling for a lot less like closer to the $19K range.
Get it for that and the fun factor will be worth it. Also check to make sure that it's running full synthetic oil in it 5w30w.

When I started out I was set on a GT500, I have not regreted my purchase of my '06 S281 in the least.
I have not had any problems with any part of mine mechanically, but then again I have not left it alone since I have bought it. Which leads me to the Extended Warranty.... That will depend on what You have planed for it. My Original Warranty was Voided within the first year, Due to Mods.
I agree the price seems steep, but Mikebna has a point with the fun factor.... totally an 11.
Good Luck!

I think if it is what you want.....Just do it! As long as you can afford it, that is.

That price is a little high i believe, i bought my 08 S281sc from a dealership, it had been there for a long time and they were desperate to rid of it, it had a 65k msrp i bugged them and bugged them and they gave me it for 34k. It was brand new with only 100 miles on it from test driving so a 35k mile s281 should not be 28k, maybe 22k
