650HP is not funner pushing out of corners and getting any grip in 1st and second. I was up to 575 crank HP on the JDM E-car tune 14.5lbs boost, and I can honestly say mu current 458rwhop on 10lbs is a lot more fun as a drivers car. Erik

It's all about power to weight and having the suspension that can put the power to the ground. If you have 1,000 hp and stock suspension, all that power is not worth a penny because you'll just fight tire spin the whole time.

A couple of quick suspension mods will do you more than increasing power on your new toy. I'd focus on putting the power you have to the ground.

A few days at Bondurant would give some nice performance gains.

Again, please show me a Mustang that has 600+ HP that you can control on the street(meaning driving into and out of corners fast without throwing the rear end). Our cars don't hold enough rubber anyway for that power.

On slicks at the track or straight freeway slams from 60mph-130mph great, anything else not great. Erik

Hi, if you’re looking for a little more performance this is a nice way to go. Start off with 3 things, CAI, smaller pulley on the SC, and a really good tune. You can buy this as a kit so shop around for the best deal. Try JDM Engineering at 732-780-0770, they also have a good web site at www.teamjdm.com good luck and have fun with your new car. ps: you should see over 100 HP gain with the kit from JDM

Muzzy,
Thanks for the ideas. I'll be checking into them. What do you know about the exhaust on the '11 shelby? I know I'm probably getting great performance from the stock pipes, but a little more growl would be nice.

Congrats on your purchase. Besides JDM, Look into Evolution Performance, Lethal. Depending on where you live at get in contact with your local mustang club they have a sponsor that alot of the members go to. For example I am a member of Stangs R Us mustang club in NC. We have a couple of shops that sponsors us. Fastlane Motorsports, and Comp Auto.Hope that Helps.

gonna be completely honest, i dint read past the first page. id would deff go with the newer 2011 Shelby. however if your willing to wait id say go for the Boss 302! the Roush is outdated and never put the power down. Shelby has a very similar problem though, but a tire upgrade is supposed to help with both of them. thank you Goodyear crap.

If I remember correctly the only one of the three (Shelby, Roush, and Saleen) that has a forged rotating assembly is the Shelby. So if you plan on leaving it stock Roush and Saleen might be a good choice. But if you plan on increasing your boost it will be much cheaper to get the GT500.

Good luck,

Al
