i wounldnt count on that...the new cobra is gonna be an *** kicker of a car, but wait till the new saleen E car comes out--oh boy. it'll match, or surpass the cobra's performance.

think what you meant to say jimmz, was that 99-04 E's..think they only made em from 02 on thou...the S/C only have like 350...

I raced a S281SC with my stock 04' Cobra, I just had about 1100 miles on it, so i took it lite, needless to say I walked on the guy 3 times, If I had gunned it, it would have been a massacre. The underated Cobra Motor is real, and people have dyno nums to prove it, and so will I as soon as it's broken in.

I talked with guy who had an 03 Cobra and was putting down 780 hp 730 tq on the stock bottom end.
Try getting that out of a piece of **** Honda.

The newer Cobras come supercharged already!

There is no real way to compare the 2 so everyone is happy.
The Saleens are pretty rare, they will only get more valueable, so with the Cobras but not as fast. Saleens are built for road courses, bigger breaks, better suspention, things like that. If you want to go straight quick your best bet is to go Cobra and add a smaller pulley to the blower (or go bigger), go with an underdrive pulley system, exaust, CPU mod, ignition just small stuff, the blower is already there.

I really like the 2003/2004 cobras don't get me wrong... However, one thing that hasn't been mentioned is the weight issue. The cobra weighs roughly 300 lbs more than the sc saleen. The other issue is the power band. The cobras power is up top while the saleen's is down low. This means stop light to stop light, the advantage goes to the saleen. Concerning total hp, the cobra has a 15hp advantage which is hardly noticable and is overshadowed by the weight issue. This makes it a drivers race IMO.

As far as potential, a 4v will always be better than a 2v once you make enough power to compenate for the extra weight and the high power band. If you like the looks of the saleen and the potential of the cobra, you should buy a cobra saleen and have the best of both worlds. (There are 4 models of saleens not including the focus and s7)

I currently own a built 2001 281 SC saleen. I drove both the 03 cobra and my current car before I purchased the saleen. I chose the saleen for its looks and exclusivity. I have spent a lot of money to make it an 11 sec car but I am happy. I am a blower away from 600+rwhp. There is no arguement that the cobra will outperform on this level but at the lower numbers...400-450rwhp, it is more of a drivers race.

Years later... how did that cobra work out for you after breaking it in because there is no way in hell a stock cobra would beat a S281 SC, if so the driver must have sucked at shifting. I own a 07 S281SC and I STOMP on Cobras any year UNLESS they have even more upgrades done to them...like procharger, etc.... lol not even on paper does stomping on a supercharged saleen against a stock cobra se years make any sense bud.
