I had the seal go on mine and replaced it years...

I had the seal go on mine and replaced it years ago, it's leaking again a little bit now. I keep mine in the garage, so it's fine when not being driven. I have driven it in the rain a few times...

you got a point there. that's like a 20 percent loss. if you're looking to conserve fuel or if you use it as a daily driver then it's not the most wise idea.
