Post Roush Supercharger Install Blues
Ahhh. Okay. Didn't know they was a 20" option. Spoke to Gavin today and he repeated what you told me. Btw, he remembered talking to me about my problem and I just forgot he was actually helpung me. He also knew who you were as well. Small world! But I now have to make sure in determining if there is still a bogging problem that I use my street tires. I'm now glad I didn't change the wheels before the only run I had last week since the PCM is set for a certain RPMile. I did see that chart you mentioned online. Very helpful. Thanks. So the stock tires on my GT are 26" diameter and the tires I replaced them with are actually .5" taller. Probably not enough to make a big difference. But, to your point, the RPM values for the PCM are still different. Any advantage you can gain to shave even fractions of a second off of 1/4 mile E.T. is welcome.
Since the Roush tune is locked and I can't make any mods myself, it looks like I may only have 2 choices. Either choose between my street and drag wheels, set the RPM value thru my installer, and accept any performance shortfalls when using the opposite set. Or buy a shorter drag tire that more closely matches my street tire so I can max performance with either. Some choice. May just have to call it up as an expensive 'lessons learned' exercise.
If I decide to sell the drag radials, is this a good site to post them on? They've only been used on 14 passes with about a 5-second, 1st gear/4500rpm, burnout each time. So there is still plent of rubber.

As for getting faster have you looked in to a one piece drive shaft like aluminum or carbon fiber? I would like to try the one piece carbon fiber I bet that would get you off the line quicker and pull out your back seats put in a rear seat delete
Yeah my mustang was the GT premium with the 20 inch option for wheels but not the performance pack
Next upgrade will be slotted vented rotors and better brake pads and like to try out a one piece drive shaft
Yeah I agree with you. After thinking about it last nite, I am going to buy new new drag radials instead of picking which RPMile to use. That way I can anticipate similar performance on the street or track. I just hate spending more money on tires right now. The super install set me back quite a bit and I have other upgrades I want. Like the carbon fiber driveshaft you mentioned and 6-piston brakes. My half shafts are upgraded already and believe a single piece, CF driveshaft will help.
After my Roush warranty is up, I may just take the car to a performance shop and blow their tune away and replaced it with an unlocked custom tune to u can make my own changed.
Also meant to ask, what size tires were on your car that skewed your RPM settings before you put your originals back on?

CPTCO, elevation is 738' here is Dayton Ohio.
JC, yeah I see your tires close to an inch difference in diameter changing the rpmile calibration. Hard to believe such a small difference can have such a drastic impact. Dealership contacted me this morning to see if they can change the parameter on one of the cars they have there and will let me know. Meahwhile, shopping for new tires.

I chose the 305 35 20 as i like the taller side wall on the rear makes a smoother ride as the side wall absorbs more shock i am thinking about putring some mickey thompsons on the front as well the 275 35 20 but ibwant to burn upbthe stock 265 3r 20 perellis on the front first
Roush tune is ****. Car bogged heavily in first and/or second...just like before. 4 passes tonite and couldn't even get below 12. BOG AND MORE F*** BOG. I'm done. Will not recommend Roush to anyone I know. Biggest fear now a reality. I had my doubts about them and was never a big fan of there cars in the first place.
Met a guy at the track with same yea/model as mine, stick, and upgraded Phase1 to a 79mm pulley and custom tune from some place in Florida callled Palm Beach something...got it written down in the but sucking down a few beers right now. I watched him run 11.24 while in line to stage. So pissed off right now.
Call the guy tomorrow to schedule. Apparently some guru. My pulley s/b okay at 80mm and I guess there are a few other parts that he wants you to buy. But his does data logging and tuning remotely and will even evaluate a log and flash a tune while your at the track!!! WTF ROUSH! Thats customer service. They are so damn conservative with their tune that you can't get all the power out of the car. I understand why they might do it to minimize warranty claims, buy I paid a lot of money for full power when I want it, not when their tune makes decisions for me.
I hate the thought of paying more to get it unleashed, but I'm so disappointed that I am forgoing the warranty so I get get what I expect out of the motor. The guy told me he paid about $800 for the uograde. I refuse to go back and forth with Roush and my dealership.

I have a couple things to add........When I first got my PCM back from roush car had no power torque Roush insisted it was rev per mile causing it I did not belive them I was pissed. So I put stock wheels back on and bam it worked so I had to go to local ford dealer ship and deal with them to set rev per mile. Since them it is running powerful and no bogging
I have to ask did you get REV per Mile dialed in? Also I think you said you had the dealership Ford flash the PCE for you? If so I would be wondering did Ford do it right? It took FORD dealership here 2 freaking times to get the rev per mile right. I took my PCM out and mailed to Roush for them to flash it on a bench so I know that part got done right.
I would love to upgrade to the roush phase 2 with smaller pulley and colder plugs and fuel module but it is not smog legal here in California.
If you are done with Roush and warranty and want a after market tune call Shaun at Advanced Engine Development he is here in California does tuning on the coyotes engines and is rated the top notch tuner. He does the remote data loging as well and VMP racing call him for advice 916 715 7569
This is the shop I was going to have tune my mustang but Roush came through and got it working for me with the rev per mile thing so I don't want to spend that cash at this time if I don't have to.
It almost seems like from what you are describing your pcm did not get the new calibration.
Does it bog the most when it is hot ...heat soaked ?
I feel your frustration and know how mad you are although mine is the automatic so I cant compare orange to apples but **** it should not bog got me thinking that it is not updated the pcm that is.
Shaun at AED tuning told me when I ready for his tune the car will be a tire shredding beast and crazy fast compared to the roush tune. I believe him . Roush is very conservative I heard but I don't track the car against a clock so I may never know the real degree of it

Sorry you guys are still having issues. All I can tell you is, don't lose faith. The nuts and bolts are all there. Roush makes a good blower, just can't seem to get the most out of the car. I actually had a few issues with colder plugs when I did my install, luckily I got some advice from a guy here to fix that problem )plugs were too cold for my altitude and I was running on four cylinders). Roush didn't seem to have any idea to fix it.
Keep at it.
Keep at it.
