Default Tire Question

Hey Guys!

been a little bit since posting for me, but I have a tire question.

I need new ones. And I'm considering a Summer tire for all year round. I live in Raleigh for the most part.

Whats going to happen on those 40 degree days and lower? or 50-60 degrees for that matter. Am i playing a risky game using those for all year round? I never drive in snow or ice anyway so thats not an issue.

if i need all seasons, what is the best one that combines less noise with performance with tread life?

i know there are probably a countless number of tire chats, but I am in a bit of a pickle at the moment and don't have the luxury of time. I appreciate all replies!

ps. Hey JJ!! whats up man?!? hope you are well!

I ran summer tires all year on my 13 GT and didn't have any issues. Just won't have much grip in the cold until they are warmed up. Possible chance to crack tires from what I understand, never ran into that issue.

I'm currently running Cooper Zeon RS3-A's and for an all season tire I'm enjoying them. Quiet, smooth, and wearing damn good so far. Pretty grippy as well.

I'll second the RS3-A's. I've had four sets ( not all on Mustangs) and they have always done well for me. The RS3-S (A=All-season S= Summer only) has been Roush's factory tire on the Mustang for a while now.
The RS3-A's are generally pretty affordable too. Last set of 19's I got for the 13 GT came in at $650 out the door.

Summer tires are made with a different compound that loves warm temperatures. As a result, they can become hard when cold, and offer very little grip, so just be careful leaving shows/meets until its nice and warm out.

As for tire recommendation, Hankooks are usually a good bet if you want to keep cost down, Otherwise I would recommend Nitto's NT05/555s, or Continental DW. If you have the budget for them, Michelin super sport series are extremely nice, and always a good choice.

We just put Super Sports on the wife's car...Good tire tire for sure.
And so far things are going well. Looking forward to my R&R coming up at the end of November.

No better tire than the Michelin, period. You can buy good tires as suggested, but if you want a great tire, buy Michelin.
