Default 2001 80mm maf on 5.0 fox?

Will it work? I have a maf off a 01 gt 80mm. Can I put it on my fox body by modifying the plug? They are both 4 pin albeit slightly different plug styles. Both cars have 19lb injectors and the same sensor architecture...

The 80mm, is just the diameter of the MAF housing, right?

If it is an easy test, then give it a shot, I would...

4pin are basically all same: Power, Ground, and the two signal wires.

Look up the maf transfer function for the stock 55mm sensor and the 80mm sensor youve got.If they arent identical or very close, the 80mm unit wont work.If youre dynoing and burning a chip for the car,you might be able to use it since you can alter the transfer function in the tune. From the things Ive read, the 4.6 meters dont work in a Fox.

I actually don't have a stock maf. My second thought is to use the 80mm housing and buy the stock sensor piece so I don't have to modify the plug. Do you think that would work? I know they are pretty finicky...that was the main issue I had when doing my 2.3t swap...vam connections.

The maf housing and sensor are a matched pair.A sensor with a different part/engineering number than the one originally installed on the maf housing, wont work. The Ford maf meters arent calibrated to an actual injector .The injector is calibrated to the eec itself, not the maf sensor. The only way it might be possible to use the 80mm maf meter would be to program that maf sensors transfer function into the eec then program the injector size into it also,if its something other than a 19lb injector .The 94-95 3.8/5.0 Mustang 70mm maf meter is the only meter you can install thats plug-n-play.
