Even Ford couldn't solve cooling issue!
Mine is a 2000 V6. I didn't notice you were talking about an older car. I'm not sure if the motors are different but I apologise for not paying attention to the years. Hopefully I didn't mess up your thread and give you the wrong info
no problem Mike! They all do seem a lot a like.
When I bought mine, it drove well on the test drive. After paying and getting the title, I drove home (20miles) I had to stop 6 times to not over heat. I replaced the radiator, Thermo, water pump and radiator hoses. AutoZone for like $300. Haven't had an over heating problem since. Well, I initially bought a fail safe thermostat and it malfunctioned and I ran hot. Then replaced it with a cheaper thermostat and never had an issue. Check your water pump weep hole. You gotta use one of those dentist mirrors. If you see any coolant dried around it, change the water pump. Coolant should be green but some people prefer red. Also, you can try squeezing upper and lower radiator hoses when it's up to temp and the Thermo is open. You should feel the flow of coolant. One of those infared temp guns can also tell you (cheap harbor freight) but I can't recall the numbers. I know, 99-04 are generally the same but I'm really not familiar with your model year. Again, sorry I jumped on your thread and possibly gave you the wrong info. What I do know is this! You can go to your local Auto supply store and buy a coolant burp funnel kit. You basically use an adapter that hooks a funnel on top of your radistra cap.run the car 10-30 min with the heater on high and it will burp the system. No spills, very little mess. Whatever you do, don't put the plug in the funnel. Maybe call it a coolant burp funnel??? ****, can't think of what it's called. Sorry bro
I drained my coolant as soon as I got home. It wasn't coming out well and super brown. Everything looked horrible so I slid to my local AutoZone and bought lifetime warranty parts. I replaced my entire cooling system for $300 minus the overflow, heater core and heater core hoses. Try to do that
