Parking Brake Switch for audio system
Hey everyone....I just bought this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=280154382646
I've read that I need to connect the system to the "Park Brake Switch," but people don't really say where that switch would be. I'm not really interested in the bypass (I found the instructions on disabling that feature with a Jensen code, in case plugging the wire to a ground doesn't do the trick, if anyone wants), but I want to know if I'm correct in that I have to run a long wire to the switch itself, which Mitchell's says is underneath the center console. Is this the case, or is the cable for the parking brake switch part of the stock stereo wiring harness?
I haven't received the stereo yet, but I want to be ready. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

there is none....
there is none....
when the parking brake is on for other internal
functions. There is a switch and its under the console.
There is no wire in the stock stereo harness as the
stock system communicates over a two wire CAN
buss. The SJB receives the signal from the praking
brake switch via a standard wire and the SJB sends
the signal to the insturment cluster and navigation
unit via theCAN buss.
I'll check the workshop manual and post the wire
color. You can then maybe pic it up at the SJB
located under the passengers side kick panel.

Where is that standard wire? Under the console? Does that mean I have to run the pink cable next to where the transmission is, under the center console? Thanks.

Looks like you need a step by step process.
Step 1 Remove the passengers side door sill plate.
Step 2 Remove the passengers side kick panel
Step 3 Remove the nut holding the SJB to the A pillar
Step 4 Pull the SJB out from the bottom until it unhinges and hangs free
Step 5 Find the right wire on one of the 7 or 8 connectors and 100s of wires
Step 5 Strip the insulation back avoiding damaging the copper conductors
Step 6 Find a wire of the correct size and attach it to the wire and solder
Step 7 Run this wire under the dash to the head unit and attach
Step 9 Reverse the order of steps 1-4 and reinstall the items removed
