Default 65 stang 260 V8 ?

i jus got a 65 stang it is ruff but kid wanted a gt grant steering wheel i had so i traded lol . and on fenders says 260 on it and i have motor and tranny for car and he tells me its orignal motor and says its a 289 but dad told me ford made a 260 v8 in those cars . so jus wondering these motors worth sht to maybe to build up or worth any money . or should jus put 302 or 351 w in it .

The 260 is the same block as an early 289 and 302, you can use any of the head/intake/header combinations on the 260 that you would use on the 289. Honeslty if you plan on driving the car alot put a newer motor/trans combination that way you don't tear up the original. If going for show leave it as original as possible. Numbers matching and original bring a lot more value, but restomods bring the fun.

well kinda hoping to do maybe street strip . want it to look nice but want it to have some power to it . but i might jus build that motor have with it and jus put good set heads and good size cam in it and intake n carb . im sure prob make that motor have some power to it . or do they maybe make stroker kit for these motors

Are original 260 V* engines worth more in a car that the serial number matches. How many Mustangs has a 260 V8? How Many Convertibles had 260 V8 engines? Any one know where to find out this information?
