WHat is fleet, rental, and/or lease vehicle?
Hi guys,
The 2007 shelby GT500 I am going to buy has
fleet, rental, and/or lease vehicle
record on it's Autocheck report. What does that mean? Should I worry about it?
All records other than that are clear. 33000 miles, one previous owner.
Is Autocheck reliable? or should I get Carfax for better information?
Thank you.
Have a nice weekend.

That means that the car was either a rental car, leased by an individual and returned when the lease term ended or used by a company as a fleet car.
However, given that it is a Shelby it was almost certainly leased to someone for three years. Rental companies do not offer Shelby's and a company would have no practical purpose for it. Further the 33,000 miles indicates the lease further.
I would definitely get a Carfax in addition.
Some will say that you shouldn't buy a leased car because it is possibly not as well taken care of due to the fact that the owner doesn't plan on keeping it long term. Honestly I'm not sure if I would buy a previously leased car personally.

I would stay away from it. Any time I've ever had a rental car I've driven the $hit out of it. About 8 months ago I had a rental Toyota Corolla. I ragged the hell out of that car. I would have to imagine that a rental Shelby GT500 probably has more burnouts under it's belt than a top fuel funny car.

Also save your money on the carfax. The only way it's any good is if any repairs were reported to carfax. I'd take it to a reputable body shop and ask them to just look over the car and just see if it's had any body work.

I agree that you should stay away from rentals because people definitely drive them really hard. However, there is no way that a Shelby was a rental. They are always V6s I believe.
I also agree, as with all used cars, that you should get it checked by a reputable body shop.

Thank you for the advices!
I found out that it was leased not rental.
Would that still be the problem?
also I am buying this from dealer. How do I take it to the body shop and get inspection?
This is the record.

Well, then, I say go ahead and get it, especially if the dealership looked it over really well and is selling it as used to you.
Also ask if what is left on the powertrain and bumper to bumper warranties still stand as part of the sale. I believe the car should have about 3K miles left on the bumper to bumper and maybe 17K? on the pwertrain. I could be wrong because I am not sure what the GT500 warranties are stock for the 07's

bumper to bumper should be 3years - 36,000 miles and 5-60,000 power-train from the original in service date. I used to work at a Ford Dealer (Sales) most Lease vehicles seem to be well maintained because if they don't dealers will charge them a lot of money when they turn them in, also a lot of people who lease the higher end vehicles will get some kind of maintenance plan to go with their lease. of course no way to know for sure. if you talk with a manager they might let you have a third party take a look at it.
Also ask for a Carfax from them, if they don't give you a free one I would be cautious they are trying to hide something.

Glad to hear it wasn't a rental.
Do you know the difference between a 4 wheel drive and a rental car?
There's places you wouldn't take a 4 wheel drive.
