Default Mustang 5.0 overheating

i have a 1996 Ford Mustang GT. It has a 5.0 bored to .308 this motor came from an '89 Mustang. My issue is overheating... I just put a new aluminum 2 row radiator on it today, I got a spacer and fan put on the water pump pulley and this car runs a 160 degree thermostat. It runs hot if you stop, but if you keep moving it gradually lowers. I need to know what exactly it needs to maintain a consistent temperature without constantly rising. Any suggestions?

I told you to get rid of that 160 degree thermostat for starters. Those engines run normal about 195-205 hell the electric fans on those dont even kick in till 210 that thermostat is open all the time,, you might as well just take it out and run nothing. Just pull it out get a 195 thermostat.

The thermostat does not set engine temperature.

You also need to make sure your fan has a fan cowl on it,, you cant expect it to pull air through the radiator when the fan is open.
