Vehicle Died While Driving! Help!
Hello everyone, I have a 2006 v6 automatic Mustang. I was driving this morning and all seemed fine. I went to push the accelerator pedal and nothing happened. The rpms stayed at 1000 as I was coasting at about 40 mph. I kept pushing the pedal in vain. Nothing happened. So I put the car in nuetral because I was on a curvy road and wanted to find a good place to pull over. When I did so, the engine cut off, with it I lost power steering and power brakes. While I was coasting only the check engine light illuminated. When I came to a stop I put the car into park and shuffled through the owners manual. I then proceeded to try anything to get it to start back up. I clicked the Fuel reset switch and it still wouldn’t continue running. It would fire up, run for maybe a second or two and shut off. After I had sat there for about an hour checking everything I could I went to crank it again. Miraculously the engine fired up and the check engine light was gone. After I made it home I checked/cleaned the MAFS. It was already clean but I figured it wouldn’t hurt. Now the car fires up again and again without any signs of anything wrong. Beats me! I was wondering if any of you guys had similar problems or know someone who has. I am really worried about this car! I have ordered a SCT/X4 and it is supposed to arrive tomorrow along with my tunes. I will use the scan feature on it to see if I can any P### codes. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like either the throttle position sensor or the accelerator pedal position sensor is at fault. The former is more likely as it's more vulnerable to heat soak related failure.

Inhave scanned and no codes where shown. If the issue comes back I will have my scanner to find out what is wrong.

Throttle plate on the throttle body got stuck closed maybe or loss of signal between the gas pedal and PCM as already mentioned.
Definitely check into it. You got lucky this time that you were able to coast to a safer area. Next time you might be stopped to turn left in the middle of the intersection with oncoming traffic.

I've been seeing advertised a Code Reader that "speaks/prints" to your cell phone with code information. Seems to me it was supposed to give a more detailed output instead of just a number or what have you. Anyone tried it? Bought one?

I also saw a video ChrisFix made on YouTube where he uses a Bluetooth scanner tool that connects to your phone.
Personally I have a SCT X4 with Bama Custom tune. (Of which I am actually having trouble with.) As far as the SCT X4 goes, I love it. I also purchased the windshield mount and love being able to watch all the temps/ readings.
