Fog Light Wiring questions
Hi everyone. I bought a set of fog lights with included harness for my 2005 V6. Everything worked well after wiring it up with the included switch. I just got a GT style switch and need some help wiring it in. The harness in the cabin that controls the generic switch has 3 wires
(black, red and white).
I know I need to tap into pin 3(violet/orange) and pin 6(orange/green). I don't know which of the wires go where and if the black wire is even used for the OEM switch. Thanks in advance if you can help

You can keep the harness powered as it it is, you only need the coil trigger run inside
to the switch. On my kit, the WHITE wire is the trigger for relay.
You would run the white or coil trigger wire to pin 3.
Pin 6 tells the SJB the fogs are on, if supported, to turn on the dash light
indicating the fogs are on. DO NOT bother with Pin6.
There is no FOG relay in the engine fuse/relay center, you are using your own
relay.
Mine is wired like this:
RED is the power wire.
WHITE is the relay trigger to my harness, on the hi-beam relay. I am using 75watt HIDs in mine.
My grounds are with the other factory grounds up front on the upper rad support.
IF I decide to add the ford switch that has the FOG function, I will remove the white wire
from where it is, and run it inside to pin 3 of the switch.

Didn't work. Gotta check my wiring again.Well.. It works perfect as is with the rocker switch. Dude, I do have both my red power wires going to the fuse box. I am wondering if I need to re-wire it a different way to use the GT switch

An installation video says it's a ground.
Sorry, a saw a video, it says it's the Grey harness, wire that has Orange and green stripe,
so my guess is PIN6 is the one to use. Cut the wire 2" before the plug, and connect
the coil ground to there:
This board here won't allow to use the time index for the video, it always starts
from the beginning. I have the link copied to go in at 4:30, but this system won't
allow that. So go right to 4m30s of the video.

Will be keeping my eye open for a factory switch with fog position. I am not going to
pay $75.00 for one though. I'll drill a hole in mine and wire up a push button
before I do that.
Gonna put in a trunk release button in the console too, just keep forgetting to
get a momentary push button...

Got a chance to look at it today. I think I need to add a relay in the # 30 slot in the under hood fuse box. I am trying to wire this using an oem switch, seems like I would need this relay to make it work. Just wandering??????????

My kit came with a relay harness...
If you look at the FOG relay position in the fuse center, there are no
female connectors in it, it's blank, so adding a factory relay won't
do anything.
If you got just fog lamps, and a grille, then you need a regular 12V relay.
Pin 30 to Battery or Ignition power
Pin 87 to the Fog Lamps Power Lead
Ground fog the Lamps
Pin 85 (coil) to Battery or Ignition power
Pin 86 (coil) to the ground, wire as shown in the video (negative trigger).
The RED wire you see in this picture is power, to pin 30 of my relay harness.
There are plenty of these male spade connectors in the fuse/relay center.
The white wire is a positive trigger for the relay. Pin 85 and 86 are reversible,
if one is power, the other is ground, there is no polarity for the coil.
Positive trigger:
Pin 86 Grounded
Pin 85 Power from switched source to trigger relay.
Negative Trigger:
Pin 86 to Battery Source.
Pin 85 to a switched ground to trigger relay.
The video would seem to indicate a negative trigger from the factory switch.

This is how they're wired FACTORY, as they cut out with the hi-beams on:
You see, PIN6 is grounded at the headlight switch when active. So, this is where the negative side of the
coil will go for your fogs.
