Default Wrong tail shaft housing

I have a 1968 c code 289. The 3 speed tag is RAB AG HG18 D5TR 0 5176 (1974 TRUCK?). It has a aluminum Sheffield tailshaft housing code C4DR 7A040 B.

My shifter is in the correct location and the crossmember appears to be stock, but the speedo gear in the housing is about 1.5 in away from where it needs to be to mesh with the drive gear.

Does anyone know what I need or where I can find documentation that points me to the housing need?

Thanks

Had the same problem but we had put in electronic speedo. So the easiest was to use a GPS speed sensor. Works quite well.
