Default What caused this on piston. Pictures attached.





Pull the heads off and this is what I found on one of the Pistons. Picture of valves on head are for that cylinder.

Looks like coolant, with some kind of block seal additive. People add that stuff
to the coolant so stop head gasket leaks and such. Sometimes it works,
sometimes is does not. When it does work, it's not permanent either.

didn't see any tell tale sign of failed gasket. usually leaves a visible pathway from a water jacket port to the cylinder.

but do need to see underneath the gasket on block to tell for sure.

moisture/water......what issue were you having?? overheating.....coolant loss?? what was the reason for disassembly?
