The hood of my 09 GT vibrates at speeds above 90mph. It does have the factory hood scoop and I notice the vibration/movement of the hood closest to the windshield. Also, the hood has actually come unlatched while driving. I wonder if it has anything to do with hood scoop itself. Has anyone else had this issue before?

If it has come unlatched while driving, then you need a new latch. That should NEVER
happen. I have an '08 with the non functional scoop, and it doesn't vibrate.

The hinges my need adjusted and tightened as well.. I would get a new latch if
it keeps coming unlatched.

Thanks for the input '08 MustangDude. I will certainly check the hinges. When my hood came unlatched it didn't completely come open. The latch somehow kept it from opening up. It still concerns me though.

I could only see it coming open if the rubber stops are adjusted too high, and there
is tension on the hood itself. Still, I have never had a hood come unlatched on me.
I may have forgotten to close it all the way, but never on its own...

yeah, turn down your rubber stops on both sides of the fender so the latch will bite better. IMHO
And why are you driving 90mph? That's getting up there!...but it's gotta be fun!

Thanks for responding. I will turn down the stops and see if that helps. I've only been above 90 a few times and 100+ only a couple of times. My thoughts were that the scoop (at speeds above 90) causes turbulence which would make the hood vibrate/shake/fluctuate. My GT does have a chin spoiler which also had me believing that it funnels more air than normal into the engine bay causing the hood to move.

yeah at those speeds the air is moving with a lot of force.

Nate, I'm having a difficult time figuring out how to turn down the stops. Two other things, I have to drop my hood from a little distant to get it to actually latch. I can't just push down on it to make it fully latch.
The other is my hood is a fiberglass hood/non metal. Do you know if all '05 to '09 stangs have fiberglass hoods or just certain ones?

on both front fenders, towards the front end you should see 2 rubber "*****", they're basically rubber screws. Twist them clockwise to lower, and CCW to raise them. You'll want to twist them CW a few turns.

I think you have an aftermarket hood the previous owner bought. Since it's fiberglass I don't think it's as rigid as a stock metal hood. As far as I know, Ford doesn't use fiberglass on any Mustang.

The way these hoods are made, they grab/coop air up into the engine bay. The front of
the hood overhangs the lights and grille:

If it didn't, you would not see that light strip.

Here are the stops:

That hexagon rubber thing, you can turn them with your hands, easy. There are
four of them... Two on the ends there, and two on the upper rad support.

If they are too low, you can be getting vibrations, and hood movement. The continued
movement may also be unlatching the hood. If too high, you have to press down
harder to get it close, and there will be tension on the latch.

Grab the front of the hood, and move up and down, see if it moves at all. If it does, then
they're loose. They are supposed to be upward enough just to put a little tension on the
hood so it doesn't rattle around, but you don't need to slam it shut.
