Rear End Rattle - WTH?
Hey guys. A while back I posted about thinking I had a tensioner rattle. Well, I was at the wrong end of the car. After more careful listening, I discovered that there is a rattle/buzz at the rear of my car.
I have a 2005 V6 Mustang. The rattle/buzz only happen in gear (drive) and only at just under 1500 RPM and around 3000 RPM (more of a few hundred give or take for the 3K, but 1500 is very specific). I cannot replicate the rattle/buzz in park or neutral. I did put the car in drive, and placed one foot on the brake and one foot on the gas. At 1500 RPM (without the car moving), the rattle still happens. I would assume that would narrow it down to my driveshaft? I don't know.
I'm bringing my car to Ford tomorrow to finally get my passenger airbag recall taken care of, and I'll ask them to throw it on the lift, but who knows if they will charge me. What do you guys think?

Update: The Ford dealer basically said they would do anything for a fee, so I ignored them. Good call too, because they left half of the contents of the glovebox on my floor after the recall work, and turned on my AC to just leave the bay. I have a serious no-no with that. Anyway... I took it to my body shop and asked them to put it on a lift. My driver side exhaust is very loose, and it seems to be the clamp holding the midpipe to the X pipe because the hangers seem good. They said they could weld it, or I could get a new clamp. I decided the clamp to keep everything the same. Those SOBs cost about $40-$50 though, so I'm not in the biggest of a hurry.

The guy at Ford suggested that when he heard it bringing the car in for the airbag recall, but when I got it on the lift, they seemed okay, unless the vibrations from the exhaust are causing them to rattle. I'm working on a video for my YouTube channel of when I got it diagnosed, but I know the admins don't like when I post stuff like that, so unless I get permission, I don't think I should.
