Default Recomendations o rebuilding my 5.0

good morning folks,
can some one give me some advice on what will be a good upgrade on my 302 motor
I want to get a more aggressive sound from my motor but not just by exhausts with out going to crazy and expensive.
I have in mind to do some upgrade like:
MSD ignition (cables, distributor etc.)
Intake (what its a good one as far as cfm's I think? )
and exhaust (headers,3" pipe possibly no Cadillac conv. with some cherry boom boxes that I currently have )
what can I do to my engine to make it a little more fast but aggressively sound?
I am building my car already and its time to get to the motor and tyranny.

The current intake is well over the Engine's "CFM."

Restriction, different ballgame.

Can get the BOSS 302 intake items, and exhaust.

Tuner.

Depends how much money you want to spend, aftermarket exhausts are relatively cheap for 5.0's. If you want loud a 3" exhaust will certainly do it with long tubes and a catless crossover it will make a lot of noise. If you mean intake manifold there are a tonne out there, cheap upgrades are gt40 or cobra intakes, otherwise you can get any number from the regular guys (edelbrock, trick flow etc etc) I wouldn't bother with any sort of "tuning" it's not as easy to do as a newer car and not really going to give you much until you start messing around with parts like heads and an aftermarket cam. You can always just bump up your timing a couple of degrees and run higher octane fuel for a bit of a kick in the pants.

The BOSS 302 motor has upgraded internals, you can look into those.

Stay away from 3" pipe.Youll loose low-midrange torque. If you're not replacing the heads with a nice set of aluminum ones, cam, etc, you wont gain anything from exhaust pipe bigger than stock (2.25") If you do go to larger pipe, stay at 2.5" max.

The following list shows the sound level for most of the popular muffler brands.

MUFFLER DECIBEL TEST

(Idle/2K RPM/WOT)

No Muffler
(91/103/Max)
Bassani StreetStreet
(83/96/120)
Bassani Real Street
(84/96/Max)
Borla XS
(80/90/110)
Borla XR1
(83/96/118)
DynoMax Ultra Flow
(83/94/113)
Edelbrock RPM
(84/93/118)
Flowmaster 2 Chamber
(82/93/115)
Flowmaster 3 Chamber
(80/84/91)
Flowtech Afterburner
(86/94/115)
Flowtech Terminator
(86/94/119)
Flowtech Warlock
(83/92/112)
Hooker Aerochamber
(87/94/114)
Hooker MAXflow
(80/90/120)
MAC
(87/98/119)
MagnaFlow
(82/91/114)
SpinTech
(87/97/116)

If you add an offroad hpipe or the oem hpipe with the converters gutted & one of the loudest mufflers above or no mufflers at all,it'll be plenty loud enough.

The following chart was something I copied from a Mustangs Unlimited catalog. It shows pipe diameter to cid/hp.

i have magnaflows with a catless exhaust. That **** was annoying at cruise. a whopping 91db is what my meter read. I did some mods to get it back down to 78db at cruise. I drive my car though, yours may be more of a weekend toy.

My personal opinion is that compression makes an engine sound better. My car sounded way meaner out the exhaust with a supercharger.

I recommend going to a track and listening to some cars if you decide to get way deep in an engine. The all motor engines will have a crisper sound at idle.

Listen to an 03 cobra engine at idle and lugging around town. The car sounds like it has diarrhea. I hated they way the cars sounded with no compression. Then listen to how crisp a high compression big block sounds...they just sound meaner.
